CBS-The Group of Five teams most likely to earn a New Year's Six berth

“Honorable Mention: Houston,”

“Im Upset. Honorable mention on my head its disrespect. So offended that I had to double check. We have a heisman runner and 5-6 espn 300 on the list
That’s why they need me out the way
What you expect?”

Most of the prognosticators do their homework on last year’s teams, what was our results, who left, who is returning, and who we signed end of the first week or so of the February signing period.

Last year’s team was not impressive and our recruiting class was not rated very highly. That we have picked up so many high profile transfers was not factored into the analysis of many, if any, of these guys.

I’m OK with all that. I want the team coming in with chips on their shoulders. I want other teams not respecting us. I want our guys to go out with a mad on and ready to prove their worth. Of course after we enter conference play 4-0, we will have gotten the attention of those remaining on our schedule.

Memphis number one on the list, ahead of UCF…bold choice.

Temple fifth on the list…bold choice.

Temple is definitely a stretch. Coogs will surprise everyone but us, I think.

who we signed is not nearly so important as who we got to transfer, and we got 6 kids so good 5 likely start and the 6th will play…serious talent…not to mention, NOBODY upgraded coaching staff remotely as good as we did…which means what happened last year dooesnt mean very much. Thats why prognosticators who base stuff strictly on what happened the year before almost always end up being wrong…

Yes serious talent but the big fact most are overlooking is these transfers have not played a game together.
That 2015 team were season veterans who had played boatloads of games together going back to early 2014, late 2013 seasons.
Still think Houston loses to Arizona and Tech early, but hopefully wins the west if Memphis stumbles

Memphis makes sense to me. Offensive Line is all back, most of the defense. They lost Ferguson but have a 4 or 5 star quarterback transfer coming in.

UCF 2nd makes sense because of last year and having Milton back. But they have a big question mark in Heupfel. An okay OC, can he be a good head coach. Always a big step up from OC to HC. We saw it last year with Applewhite.

Anything below here could be several teams. Navy has their HC who is always plugging and playing. Temple was pretty hot at the end of the year.

Houston. A lot of talent coming in. Coaching changes. How quickly does it all mesh together. Does it? I really think if things pull together during fall practice, we could be a really really good team. At the same time, we could struggle with the chemistry.

Memphis lost their two best receivers both of whom were seniors. They are not going to be that easy to replace.

If I have a choice between a seasoned offensive line or receivers, I will take the offensive line anytime. To clarify, our season is going to hinge more on our offensive line improving our ability to run the ball, in my opinion more so than our wide receivers.

You could argue the same point with us losing Dunbar and Bonner. I believe it is easier to replace wide receivers versus developing a good offensive line.
