I remember when Marcus came in his freshman year you could tell he was physically ready to play
But mercy takes that to a whole other level

Preseason SEC media poll
#5 and #9 were no match for the Coogs. #2 is up next!
Whoo boyā¦Alabama is tough. It would suck to lose to them THREE times in a row. Come on Coogs.
Got it on now. Took a sec to remember that ASU is repping the B12 now. Weird lol
So why did J. Francis not play ?
Groin injury. Should be ready opening night
31 FTs to 10.
My expert opinion is that Coogs could be pretty good this year.
Those freshmen are unusually good for freshmen.
Some things never change lol
Where do you find these? I canāt find anyone whoās even reporting the preseason scores
Just got back from the game
Mercy Miller is an absolute stud. First college game in a high level game and he looked good
Plays fearless

Looks like Chris Cenac

I canāt believe Tramon could be on this team.
Please donāt put the jinx on.
Is it weird to think he might not actually make this team better?
Mixed Bag of Thoughts
We could have a historic-level defense.
Mercy is 100% behind Mylik and Ramon today. Mercy was a defensive liability in the first half (when it was competitive) and was the only player with a negative +/- in that period. Our strength lies in our impenetrable defense, but due to lapses from him, the rotations were off, and A&M got some good looks (whether they made or missed, they shouldnāt have had those opportunities). We wonāt sacrifice our defense, but Mercy has a ton of non-conference games to work on his defensive role, and heāll move up when he does.
LJ was elite in his familiar role (catch and shoot), but Iād love to see him develop his game off the dribble. Context-wise, A&M is an elite team, BUT not for their defense.
We significantly outrebounded an elite rebounding team, which was one of the biggest positives from this game.
Hot Take: Iād rather see Lath get minutes this season over McFarland. Thereās nothing McFarland does that we canāt get from Tugler or Francis.
McCarthy is probably getting a redshirt, but heās a solid defender.
Sharp looked like his usual selfāthere was talk of a big jump in his game, but weāll see.
Terrance looked excellent as a shooter, and weāre all hoping this wasnāt just a one-game thing.
Tugler has drastically improved his body control since last year, but he still needs to work on his touch around the rim.
Uzan showed tremendous upside this game. The shots didnāt fall, but the skill he displayed in creating them was impressive.
Ramon needs to be more fearlessāhe has it in him. Up until his back-to-back threes, he was playing way too cautiously.
This team, at worst, will be a top-5 team (if healthy) and could very well be our best defense under Sampson.
But thereās a chance weāre witnessing a historic, once-in-a-lifetime team. Itās not fully there yet, but this could also be Sampsonās best offense; the potential is evident.
And the scariest part of our formula? Rebounding. If this game is any indication of the season⦠itās SCARY! We were #1 for most of last year without even being a great rebounding team.
Concerns: Thereās an over-reliance on LJ and Uzan. Losing either would significantly impact our offense, so we need other guys to step up as backups.
That was awesome.
