This!

I’m not a fan of screeching but the last guy was embarrassing particularly the way he made a mess of food while on camera. Utterly unacceptable!

New girl just needs to have more vocal control, that’s all.

That might have been the game when the basketball PA guy did it.

Unfortunately these hosts end up feeling like you’re sitting in front of a crying baby on a 4 hour flight!

Maybe that’s the plan cause like that you end up drinking the entire time!

I don’t even necessarily mind the whole cookie monster routine in theory. The first time or two, it was kinda entertaining. It just puts him in a weird bind because if he only does it sometimes it looks like anything he doesn’t do it for is then bad, but if he does it all the time then it gets old.

If we gotta have a gameday host, I wonder if anyone has the number for that gal from the Roughnecks games?

EDIT: Apparently she does the Texans’ games now. Good for her.

You can please all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but Coogfans gonna complain every time

We can solve the game host dilemma very easily and very quickly. Do away with the position. Let the UH band be the focus and entertainment for halftime. The idea that every second of non-action at a football game needs to be filled with entertainment is annoying. People want down time to go to the concessions, go to the restrooms, talk to the family and friends in their seats.

Having a game host is an attempted solution to make the games more entertaining. I say let the game be the entertainment. If UH has to, positively, have a game host, let it be for a pre-game tailgate, to gin up the crowd.

You guys act like the host is a full time job lol.
All of the ones we have or had in the past treated it like a weekend job.

It seems to me that she did the World Cup games this past summer on her social media.

we pulled that from the east coast where it started - just invest more in the band and people will come around

The not-so-secret secret here is that the host’s real job is to keep the crowd’s attention and make the ads we have to sit through during timeouts feel less like ads. The alternative, for the most part, isn’t letting the band or even the DJ play, it’s sitting through an actual commercial break in the stadium. They’re not doing the Whataburger Football Toss or the TDECU Field Goal Frenzy just for the fun of it.

Yep. I’m sure Whataburger feels better about the money they spend if we have someone bringing attention to the field, and not just a kid tossing footballs at trash cans hoping we notice.

One can easily ascertain who attends games by reading this thread

Hey, nothing says you attended games in the Astrodome like being mad when you have trouble talking to your family in friends in your seats.

They clearly are paying a game host, if anything they should do more with them and the band.

If UH did away with the game host, would anyone notice, or more importantly, care? No answers please from the host’s immediate family members or friends.

I wouldn’t give one dad gummit. All i want is for my ticket to scan. :grinning:

“The speakers were loud and the jackhole in front of me was standing up and yelling all game. It was particularly bad on 3rd down, which is when it’s most important to be able to see the game. Horrible experience. Will NOT return.”

Not sure that’s accurate, just based on this thread.

That’s a bit of a common thing lots of times for stadium hosts and sideline reporters on tv to do. Its not something only he does.

I think the stadium host role now is just as common as the costumed mascot is in college and professional sports.

You’ll need to check on the math to debunk that one. How many “regular attendees” posted in this thread vs the total number at games?

Or don’t do the math, because it doesn’t matter. The AD didn’t come here to ask if we should add a human noisemaker to the mix, and they didn’t ask us if we should change personnel, just like they didn’t take a poll of regular attendees regarding whether they should sell blue stuff.

I will respect your opinion and politely disagree so as to not saw sawdust as often happens.

Sorry, that made me lol.

Can we ever go one season in football or basketball without criticizing the host lol?
