There’s a reason Dell goes by the nickname “Tank.”
“He thinks he’s the toughest guy in the room,” coach Dana Holgorsen said.
He’s certainly the fastest, often creating matchup problems for opposing defenses. And with a bonus season given to players due to the pandemic, Dell still has two more seasons of eligibility.
No disrespect to Dell, I think he’s proven to be a pretty good WR for us but… our best receiver is 5’-10 & 155lbs. I feel like thats a problem.
Why? As long as there’s production, who cares?
Patrick Edwards certainly wasn’t 6’5
Yeah, that 2011 WR group was a problem for sure. Oh wait, we may be using “problem” in a different way.
It would be much better to have a 6’4 receiver with stone hands. We have had a few of these:)
I miss having some of those small speed demon guys. Seemed like Keenum could take a snap, wait one beat, then launch it downfield. Someone would run underneath it and be gone.
Johnny i agree ! If it works …it works !
Go Coogs…beat Tulsa !
Speed and route running helps a WR like Dell get open often… Size makes a WR open ALWAYS.
Dell is great!
Hazard, Dixon, Phillips, Carrier and Edwards were all fairly small . There haven’t been many Dez Bryant types come through UH that have posted big numbers
Let’s see superspud… Alabama recruited a wide receiver a few years ago that was 5-11 and 155 pounds.
In 2020 this wide receiver won the Heisman Trophy and went 10th overall in the NFL draft.
I don’t think Alabama has any regrets on Devonta Smith’s size.
Wes Welker is 5-9. 12 years in NFL, 5 pro bowls
…… Vincent Marshall…??
Tyron carrier says hold my beer
My favorite was when Leach said of one of his receivers, “He’s slow, but open.”
Dell IS the toughest guy in room. And, he catches those balls over the middle which tells me he’s got a pair. Like the size of canteloupe.
Also, look at Jakeem Grant. That guy was Tech’s best WR among a pretty strong group, and he was one of the most dangerous in the country.
He’s been in the NFL for 6 years.
He was like 5’6" 165 lb coming out of college. Never had trouble getting open.
That’s a very lazy take. Stevenson is literally listed at 5’10 on the official NFL website. Tavon Austin had one of the best seasons we have seen from a WR the last decade and he was 5’8. I just posted in the other thread Tank Dell is the 22nd ranked WR in the country by PFF
