my takeaway from this is, our practice court is named?
Who is David Marrs?
Player from the mid-70s who has made significant monetary contributions to the basketball program.
Did both of these in high school. I think CKS and my high school coach would get along just fine.
Better known as “The Planet”. Was a huge 7’plus center, who Guy brought in. Unfortunate for him, he had major foot problems. Big follower of our program despite not playing. By all accounts a great person.
You’re thinking of Mars “The Planet” Evans
David Mars was a fine post up player for coach Lewis from Lamar High in Houston. He was 6-7 but a good leaper.
You are right Butch, David Mars was a good player. My Bad.
No wonder these guys are so relentless during games. They’re practically committing misdemeanor assaults on each other in practice diving for balls and chasing rebounds.
And for those of you who think Ced might be gone…I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s still a huge part of the program and his efforts can definitely not be questioned. I think he and Nate are the two most ferocious ball hawkers on the team.
Well, that answers all of my questions about why we foul so much.
They can’t call ALL of the fouls so better to be physical all of the time.
I thought Marrs played on Phi Slama Jama. Isn’t showing this video a way for teams to steal our drills and use them against us?

The way I’m reading that is in his senior year he averaged 8.1 FG/game (16.2 ppoints) plus 1.9 FTs per game. So, 16.2+1.9=18.1points per game total. That is really good!
Right. We bust on the refs all the time, but we get away with our share too, even on the road. So at the end of the day the fouls called that we didn’t commit probably wash the ones we did commit but weren’t called. So at the end of the day, the number of fouls called is right.
We just foul a lot because of the culture of hustle and so forth. I’m OK with that.
We bust on the ones that do try to call every foul…or are not sure when they are going to enforce the rules and ignore them at other times. Consistency (and leniency) is all we want.
He was really good his senior year.
Blossomed out of nowhere.
Matured might be a better call.
Every team gets away with some fouls. The refs are just plain bad that we have in the AAC and do to the fact we play agressive D we seem to pay more in a lot of our games.
