great hire from a splash and coaching standpoint but will he be able to do all the other things as a head coach of a program like the tar heels. Will he be able to hit the recruiting trail and recruit

Great hire.
Hire is mostly getting roasted online, has never been a college coach, last coached in college in 2001. Was fired by the Nuggets last year. Seems really underwhelming for a school like UNC.
wouldn’t say underwhelming, he is one of the best basketball coaches around regardless of level. He has won an nba championship. He got fired because of the relationship he had with the gm not necessarily his coaching or record.

Who are some coaches with zero NCAA head coaching experience who went from the NBA to the NCAA? 3 I found were, Avery Johnson, Mike Dunleavy Sr and Terry Porter.
Avery was 75-62 at Bama with 1 tournament appearance.
Dunleavy was 24-69 at Tulane
Terry Porter went 43-103 at Portland.
Both Avery and Dunleavy won NBA Coach of the year honors while coaching in the NBA.
