College Gameday/Big Noon Kickoff possibility

I’m obviously looking too far ahead here but just the idea of the possibility of the coogs being on College Gameday or Big Noon Kickoff was too exciting to not mention. On October 24th, the coogs head to Utah for what possibly could be a top 15 matchup. If the coogs win their next two games and Utah wins their next two games, we could be looking at 8 ranked Utah vs the 15th ranked coogs and you would for sure think that would warrant being on College Gameday or at least Big Noon Kickoff. Game wouldn’t be in Houston obviously but to be involved in a show like that would promote the Houston Cougars brand so much and awaken the alumni to come to games.

I’d say you’re putting the cart before the horse, but the cart is still a tree in the woods, and the horses haven’t stood up on their own wobbly legs yet.

Why not? No one on this board is suiting up. Besides, we live and die by conjecture on this board. :sunglasses:

Go Coogs! :smile_cat:

Tell me the other games being played that day and I will tell you if there is a shot.

I do think that broadcasting ESPN Gameday from Iowa last Saturday opened some eyes that other games, outside of the usual suspects, can offer interesting, even compelling stories. The Children’s Hospital in Iowa, and the fans and players waiving to the children, was storytelling at its best.

I think gameday goes to Texas. But if Fox gets this game I bet Utah gets BNK

You just put the jinx on….nice job.

Have they ever gone to the same place more than once in a season? Not sure but if so, I bet it’s extremely rare.

Not at all. According to BetMGM, they’ve repeated a school every year since the pandemic, and they repeated two in 2022.

I really miss when they used to do G5 and FCS games.

Wow! That is a surprise.

GameDay has already done Texas twice. In Austin for Ohio St. and in Knoxville for Tennessee. Can ESPN be a little less obvious in their favoritism?

There are rumors that gameday is planning on New Mexico vs NDSU that week.

Pretty much all those g5 teams are p4 now

Not really. Within the last decade they’ve done Western Michigan, James Madison, Coastal Carolina, and Appalachian State, but they haven’t done a G5 at all since 2023.
