I snapped this with an iphone camera using 10 second exposure. Venus at bottom left and Arcturus on the right. This taken in Rosehill area. Thought it was not too bad considering not using any special equipment and full moon behind me.
Comet Tsuchinshan is moving away from the sun and its movement is not
discernible with a causal observation. Much like looking at the stars or planets, only over a period time , can you detect a change of location.
This was at 7:43pm and full moon had already risen and at my back. It is faint under these conditions. On first night it took me about 30 minutes to find it. I’m near Muescke and 2920. There are some subdivisions west of me now but no street lights within a mile or two.
Use averted vision to try and locate it with your eyes. That’s utilizing the edges of your
primary retina vision; humans typically have more rod cells( B/W detectors) in that portion of the retina. Once you find it, a cheap pair of binoculars works good. I have some 11x80 giants that suck up lots of light.
You may have a few more nights. Somebody sent this to me for viewing thru
tomorrow; think I’ve read it should be thru end of month. But, it’s getting fainter as it speeds away from us and the sun.
