Competitive football

I’m a newbie here but a real oldie with the coogs (coogs vs. A&M college, Rice stadium, Sept. 29, 1962-per ticket stub!). The allmighty knows i’ve suffered through the highs and lows of coogdom, but always proud the boys gave their best no matter what–until CDH hit the scene. IMO, look at our local HS coaches, Northshore, Katy, CyFair, etc. Take those 3, add a few more from the area, split the $ we pay for the current group of clowns and form a coog coaching staff. Yeah, we lose games but you can bet our guys will give it their best and be competitive. Can we say that now? I’ve endured slings and arrows, so go ahead.

I hear you. We are all so tired of coaches just in it for the money, just waiting for the next higher paying gig. We are all longing for sound fundamental coaches like Yeoman or Pardee. But those guys are few and far between. I keep coming around to Willie Fritz. He’s that kind of coach. He has done so much with so little over the years and been a consistent winner. We’d be really lucky to have him.

Welcome @dinocoog. Always nice to have another fan’s perspective.

Don’t be shy and let her rip!

Good to have another long suffering coogs in the fold. Times change, I remember at the Dome most guys were in coat, tie and maybe flask and our dates in skirts as we watched UH beat or tie Florida St and Georgia every time we played them. Of course the coach was much better then.

Those were the days! We couldn’t wait to hit the field with a “big time” opponent that hopefully had a ranking—that was prime meat for the coogs back then. Now, we Pi@# and moan about having to play one of them–(duh, 41-0?) Fats Domino had a song that describes me to a T this year–“Poor me, I’m livin’ in misery”
