Congrats to Leron as he continues to move up in his coaching career!
Leron is great friend of mine and he is a Special education teacher at Crosby and has been an assistant head coach at Crosby for the past 7 years, now it’s his turn to lead the charge!
Looking back, Coach Dickey was a nice man who knew basketball. He could not overcome the lack of facilities, which was negatively impacting recruiting. He was not the type to demand that UH administration upgrade the facilities. He was going to do the best with what he was given. What UH needed at that point was a disruptor, not a status quo coach. Coach Dickey was not a disruptor. Coach Sampson was. He got a commitment from from the administration to upgrade the facilities, or else he would not accept the job. When UH hired Sampson, we were off to the races. It has taken over a decade, but the program is in a good place.
