He and Ray Odierno are easily the two best Generals I ever worked with.

In my last assignment when I was in Hawaii working at the US Army Pacific HQ as a South Asia Foreign Area Officer, Fenton was, at that time, the US Indo-Pacific Deputy Commander as a three star General.
We had Joint Forces talks with representatives from all branches of the Indian armed forces. I was a part of the US Army delegation, and Fenton was the overall US Head of Delegation. Truly a WORLD CLASS military leader. I had briefed him on a few other occasions, but that was my biggest memory.
Definitely a credit to his alma mater, ND (in his office, he kept a big golden ND helmet on the shelf), and the US military. He and I both have Master’s degrees from the US Army Command and General Staff College.
The Special Operator community should definitely remember him as one of their very best.
