Big night against the Rangers. Star of the game for the Redsox.
Drove in the only run of the game to beat the yankees.
Connor Wong’s RBI double | 08/22/2025 | MLB.com
Sox fan here, he’s been absolutely brutal at the plate this year. Sucks for him because they’re likely moving on after this year with the addition of Narvaez but hopefully he can right the ship here and have a few moments in the postseason
To his credit, he has had two winning RBI’s in the last month. Hopefully he finishes strong and finds a home if he is let loose.
Sub .500 OPS this year. Martin Maldonado thinks that’s terrible.
Are the Sox still interested in Amaya from the Cubs? I had read they were interested around deadline but he got hurt……maybe over the winter?
Trying to think of a team that could use a backup catcher who is solid defensively…

I’ll call John Henry and let you know
He got off to a slow start, and then was injured for about a month early in the season. I think the Red Sox will keep him around. He is arbitration eligible next year, and I think will still be under club control for three more years.
Speaking of former Coogs in MLB, Jared Triolo just hit a 3-run home run, and now has homers in back to back games for the first time in his career. He is getting more PT since the trade deadline and has managed to get his average above the Mendoza line.
I thought you were a Sox fan and maybe knew or heard what the talk was on the catching position….guess not.
giving you a hard time, the Coog fan in me wants me to do well, the Sox fan in me thinks its time to part ways. i’d be surprised if he’s back next year

John Henry is currently dead and not accepting calls.
Speaking of another former Coog, Mario Mendoza credits former Coog Tom Paciorek (along with Bruce Bochte) for coining the term Mendoza line.
