Coogs #14 in Total Defense in the Nation. To put it in perspective, Houston ranked #115 last season.
What an accomplishment so far. I hope this trend continues. I hope to see the offense continue to grow and improve.

If we had not played so loose against Rice on the last drive, we would have held them to less than 100 yards total.
The main thing is we need to do better on offense to keep the D on the sidelines more. As much as I would like to say otherwise, I just can’t muster up any enthusiasm for Smith as QB. I just can’t see him leading us to where we need to be. Fortunately he is a senior and we won’t have to worry about him next year. He must be a practice all American, because in the games he’s not so much.

I know the starters were out, but they seemed to play more try to catch them then to attack them.

Anyone would have been better than AppleBoy, but I personally liked the defensive style of Orlando. Not sure he was head coaching material.

Feels SO great to no longer think we would give up big play when having opposing team in 3rd or 4th and crazy long.
Coaches leave lasting marks like Helton predictably calling a delayed draw on 3rd and long. Belk’s is that no matter how many yards were needed on 3rd or 4th down his defense could give up the big play aka “3rd and Belk it”

I have a suspicion that if qb1 doesn’t move the chains this week it’s curtains.
If the defense continues to play at this level, I sure hope our new A.D. gives the DC a big pay raise; Otherwise, I could see him getting poached.
