Purdue didn’t have a series win against a single team in the tournament. Their RPI has more to do with the higher ranked B1G playing each other one game during the week. They aren’t bad, but that is a very winnable game.
UNC probably shouldn’t have been a national seed. They had 2 series wins against regional teams all year (USF at the very beginning and NC State). They were 1-2 against ECU and were 5-5 down the stretch. Very beatable team.
Getting matched up with the Stetson regional isn’t that bad either.
What this tell you imo is Purdue was looked at low #2 seed (#31 RPI) n UH as high #3 seed in Committees eyes. Nothing is easy but good matchup for Coogs to open Region .
I just looked at Purdue’s schedule. They literally beat no one. 2 wins over Ohio State and 1 over Indiana. They lost 2 out of 3 at Tulane (well we did too, but still). This is the easiest draw I have ever seen for a UH team in the postseason. That being said, comparatively speaking this is not a strong UH team compared to other years.
