Cotton Bowl Poll

I would say beating Michigan next year is really important for Day’s job security. Ohio State is certainly due for a win, thats for sure.

  4. Texas
  5. Texas A&M

It is a little like the old days if a cow coach couldn’t beat Oklahoma he’d eventually get fired, and GOD forbid he should lose to the farmers (atm).

So true…The pressure on Longhorn coaches to win is huge. Look what happened to Herman. In 1950, Texas coach Blair Cherry resigned after 4 years. His last team went 9-1 and lost to Oklahoma by 1 point. After losing the Cotton Bowl, Cherry resigned and wrote a story in one of the national magazines that he resigned because of " the intense pressure to win all the time". I guess whorn has always been the way they are.

Yes their expectations are in the stratosphere, and always have been.

Hows Texas Tech not on that list?

Folks, Ohio State has been on a roll these last two rounds.

Don’t assume UT will make it past them.

I certainly hope that they don’t.

Ohio St is averaging 41.5 in The CFP.

UT is averaging 38.5.

Both scoring averages are above Notre Dame and Penn St averages.

The National Champion has been a team with a killer offense. Yes, many had excellent defenses, but it has been Offense that wins The Natty.

The Cotton Bowl winner will go on to win The CFP Title.

Mine:
1A Whorn
1B Notre Dame (if you grow up in Chicago and aren’t catholic, it’s real easy.)
2. Pedophile State
3. B1G schools not Illinois, Northwestern, Nebraska or USC.
4. SMU.
5. SEC
6. Miami(FL)
7. NC St.

As you can imagine, I’m not really enjoying the CFB playoff.

Works for me as long as UT isn’t in the finals!

That said…

An Ohio State v ND championship game would be a true MONSTER matchup between Midwestern super-power blue bloods.

Speaking of Ohio State football, and not to derail the thread, but anyone who is a college football fan, I recommend the book “The Ten Year War” by Joel Pennington.
It revisits the 10 games between Woody Hayes and Michigan’s Bo Schembechler.
And if you like college basketball, “88-1” by Timothy Bourret on UCLA and Notre Dame’s programs during UCLA’s 88-game win streak that was sandwiched between Notre Dame losses.
88-1 came out this past August and is one of the best sports books I’ve ever read.
Now, back to the Cotton Bowl Poll.

Notre Dame vs anybody would draw eyes from most corners of the nation. I never like OSU, but I will be pulling for them against the whorns.

I have many friends who went to UT. I love how poorly they handle losing. But I hate Ohio State more than UT, so I win either way.

I think the line play will determine the winner. Not sure which team is stronger in the trenches

The 4 teams I root for……

Houston Cougars

Anyone playing ut, a$m, or notre dame !!

If notre dame is playing ut, I root for a scoreless tie that goes into 50 overtime’s !!

Mike, a good list but I would have added Texas at No. 7 and bumped Ohio State to No. 8.

The cows are surprisingly tough on both lines, but I expect them to wilt like daisies in the 4th quarter. They haven’t had to play in the 4th this year.-except vs ASU… I have always seen the cows as long on talent and physical ability, but short on…ah…stones…
