The Notre Dame game was bad. We were living in Corsicana at the time and couldn’t get our car back up our sloped driveway if we went. It was the only UH Cotton Bowl my family missed. We gave our tickets to a friend a few days before and got to hear his stories about the stadium and roads.
Perfect weather for Nebraska vs UH. Perfect ending too.
The Cotton Bowl still owes me an umbrella that I broke trying to chip off the ice on my seat against Notre Dame.
Good ol days when you could take an umbrella into the game
And she’ll like it too.
The 2015 Armed forces bowl was still the coldest for me…being soaking wet in 32-34 degrees temperatures is way worse than freezing temps with snow/ice in my opinion.
At least we won that game in a tremendous comeback over Pitt unlike ND and BC. The wait for the 4th quarter was worth it. Kenneth Farrow running over the Pitt defender at the goal line was awesome. We need a rugged fullback-type like Farrow if we want to develop a tough team culture again. Have we had someone like him since?
At the Armed Forces Bowl, my wife spent most of the 3rd quarter warming up in the ladies room. She told me that I had better take her somewhere good for vacation. I think I took her to Kauai, but it may have been Maui. I can’t remember which because they kind of run together.
2015 Armed Forces Bowl had to have been one of the coldest I have EVER been, and I lived for a while in Montana! I had a poncho over a sweatshirt, stayed soaking wet from the thighs down, and it was worth it to stay until the end. To me personally it made up for the chicken soup game.
We stayed at the Marriott outer loop in Dallas, no longer there, an old folks home. They had limited heat and many restaurants were closed. Jojo’s was open. My girlfriend kept me warm at the hotel. I think they had a one block cotton bowl parade if memory serves. My key was frozen to unlock car. Think it was colder underneath stands.
I almost got killed about 30 minutes after the Notre Dame Cotton Bowl. I was walking the concourse, looking for one of my drunk buddies when one of CBS’s cameras fell off the end zone tower and shattered into a million pieces at my feet. In retrospect, yes, it could have been worse.
Thought it might have been Lindsey Nelson’s jacket!
Last years independence bowl was the coldest game I’ve ever withstood . 23-24 degrees the whole time . It was much more frigid than the Armed forces bowl in 15 and the BC cotton bowl
It was closer to 38-39 degrees but being soaking wet made it miserable
Yeah that old turf in the cotton bowl was wet and slick. Temperatures around freezing with frozen rain and winds made it miserable
