Cougar Card Collection

Does anyone know when these Cougar Cards were issued and how long they were given out?

I got my 1st batch as a transfer during orientation back in 2011, but occasionally would still see them given out during different student organizational events up until around 2013.

Rumor was that whoever collected them all would get their entire tuition paid for  I wonder if anyone ever claimed that prize.

I only collected enough to get the free shirt my freshman year, but apparently Dr. Bott started the program in Fall 2009 and it existed in some form as recently as Spring 2017. Top prize was a $1,000 scholarship, which required students to collect 55 or 56 cards. IIRC, getting a shirt required like 15. Not sure what the prize levels were between those two, if any.

Any idea if there’s a list of the full set published? I do remember them and maybe picked up one or two on campus back then but I wasn’t really collecting them, or maybe it was just after I graduated (since these are 2012-2013 and I graduated in 2012). Don’t remember.

Don’t think so, but I’ll ask the Archives Collections dept. at UH.

They told me ALL editions of The Houstonian (aka UH’s yearbooks) are fully digitized & available free online.
