I saw all those home games at Delmar. The opponents were mostly not major and UH was just far more superior. Many lopsided scores.
Look at the March Madness numbers Ryan listed.
All 3 games were against “major” opponents and the 1968 squad continued scoring at a very high level.
The Big E team was a monster team.

Today in 1983, UH beat Texas by 43. Akeem had a triple-double (UT’s program would not have its first triple-double until 1996).
It’s UT’s largest loss in the last 56 years.

I was there as a 9 year old with my mom and brother. This game and the preceding Arkansas game were the most excited I’ve ever been at a sporting event. They cemented my lifelong cougar fandom
