Could the USC v. ND series be ending?

Arguably the second or third biggest rivalry in college football, and the only major “intersectional” rivalry of any real consequence.

There is no matchup scheduled after 2026.

The schools are apparently having some issues with renewing it, given USC’s conference obligations.

Both sides say that they WANT to keep the series going, but with the new playoff situation, the game might be a hinderance of sorts.

I’d argue it’s the number 1 rivalry bc it was the first cross country game played against 2 teams each of whom thought they were number 1.

Historically, in the past, whoever won that game could be the national champion for a bunch of yrs back in the day.

No in simpler terms the big10 is telling USC to STOP playing ND.
Yes #1 rivalry that the big10 does not want to see unless…unless ND goes to the big10, bast…ds.

History no longer means anything in college sports unless it is good for the pocketbooks /agenda of the SEC/BigX dictatorship.

#1 is army v Navy. Go Navy! Beat Army!

“arguably” is doing a lot of work there.

How so?

Ohio State v Michigan is the biggest rivalry based on ratings.

Second and third would be either ND v USC or Army v Navy; simply too much history, tradition, and pageantry.

And again, ND v USC, since the 1920s, has been literally the ONLY cross-country “intersectional” rivalry of any real consequence.

All other major rivalries are regional.

No reason for BIG to tell USC they dont want them playing ND…none at all. Who USC plays in non conference is THEIR business. Period. USC just needs to work on managing their nc schedule, which i am sure they will do.

no big deal to me and I am in big10/ND country now being a Michgander.

big rivalries are UM-OSU, bama-auburn, texas-ou, florida-georgia imo. growing up nebraka-ou was every bit as big as any other rivavlry imo, now long gone; rivalries change.

how about a blue coogs - red coogs rivavlry ! i’m all for that !

Will life as we know it continue !!
