I don’t believe any of those teams deserved to be in but especially both teams. But there will always be teams who get in based on the system we have so it will never be perfect. This is another reason we just need to get to a 32 game field and eliminate conference championship games.
This is why I think only conference champions should be guaranteed a spot in the CFP and the rest go to the best teams. The guaranteed spots by conference affiliation is a money grab by the SEC and B1G. If the B12 and ACC don’t like it, improve your scheduling and beat teams ahead of you in the rankings. To me, that is the fairest way to make sure the CFP showcases the best teams vying for the championship.

You can only beat the teams that are on your schedule. Do you actually think the cfp will be do that? The cfp is controlled by the p2’s.
Take penpedophile state. Who have they beaten and where did they play their first three games?
Why on earth are they ranked 3rd? That makes no sense.
There really shouldn’t be rankings at all. Just standings. Opinions should not matter.
Clemson won their league. They absolutely deserved to be in. Unless you want to argue Army or some of other G5 champ deserved it more.
As for the system, it ain’t perfect but it’s a massive upgrade over what we had before.
By the rules of the game yes they deserved to be in but as I felt last season and this they really weren’t anything special. Doesn’t look like we will need to worry about them or SMU soft pedaling their way in this season.
