Damian Dunn commits to UH Coogs

They are pretty different actually. Edwards better defender and better shooter from deep. Dunn more of an off the dribble and create a shot and/or get to the free throw line type of guy on offense.

I watched one highlight video, I’m sure my analysis is spot on

sampson quote about dunn

Sampson said. “His ability to get to the free throw line keeps teams from having long scoring droughts.”

“He wanted to come to Houston. He knew what he was getting into here. He feels like this will elevate his game and help him reach his goals. There is a methodical way that he plays. He has an old man’s game, and that’s a good thing. A lot of NBA guys have old-man games,” Sampson said. “We expect him to come in here and impact winning from day one.”

One of the things I like most about Dunn is his versatility. He can play the 1,2, or 3 depending on the lineup. We saw how injuries affected this team a few years back when Sasser and Mark were out. Having a guy like Dunn gives me comfort knowing he can play different positions.

Dunn is going to be really really good.

I love the old man game. That is where he mimics Edwards. Edwards had the lunch pail type of style.

Super soft shot

This is the type of unique attribute that championships are made of. Every player bringing a strength to the table. I’m loving the addition. Absolutely lovin’ it.

Idk why but his shot looks like it has so much weight it looks heavy when it falls right in

It kinda looks like it has only a little rotation. I said “looks.” I don’t know anything about shot mechanics.

I’ve mentioned it before but I have a colleague whose son plays for Temple. She told me if they didn’t fire coach, he was going to transfer. Apparently he was roomates with Dunn and she said he’s a good kid. There were some other things I was told about the Temple team but I am not going to air Temple’s dirty laundry.

A pure shot has nice backspin off the fingers….we do shooting drills where the kid lays on the court with the ball…then “simulates “ a shot with good backspin….should come right back down to him every time….
I also use rim extensions to make them have to use a nice arc….no flat shots.

Dunn’s three point shooting has improved every year throughout his college career. I wonder if that trend continues this year and we can see him hit 37%. I imagine that playing with Shead and Cryer will improve the quality of the looks he gets, and he should get a boost in efficiency just off of that.

I think he’s going to be a pretty good shooter for us. Giving he will be getting a lot more open looks

His jump shot looks more natural and fluid than Tramon Mark no doubt! Go Coogs can’t wait.
