Nevermind, Cincinnati has already made their hires and it isn’t these two guys. Man that staff came together quick.
We can shut the program down if Art Kaufman is the hire. He just got fired at Cal for having the single worst defense in FBS last year.
Cal, under Kaufman this season, was 127th in the nation in rushing yards per game (272.9) and 128th in rushing yards per carry (6.16). The Bears were 127th in scoring defense (42.6 points per game), 82nd in passing yards allowed per game (245.4), 107th in passing efficiency defense (145.84), 105th in team sacks (18) and 125th in total defense, giving up 518.3 yards per game. Cal’s 67 offensive touchdowns allowed were the most in the nation.

Look at his defenses historically, not just at Cal. It looks like Dykes has the same problem as Kliff. Puts too much pressure on the defense to play a bunch of snaps. Kaufman has been up for the top assistant award in the country in recent history. Gibbs was a great coordinator here, but then went to TT… Kaufman was a great coordinator, then went to Cal…
Yeah, sell that hire to the fan base that is justifiably expecting something close to Orlando 2.0.

The fan base is fickle. People who make hires to appease a fan base like Levine did in trying to find a guy to bring the Air Raid, end up like Levine. I would have been happy if Gibbs came here, and he had the 128th ranked defense in the country, because we know that Tech isn’t indicative of his ability. Well, Cal isn’t indicative of Kaufman’s ability.
If we reach for someone like that, I am starting to think the applications to work at UH have become a lot more scarce since the application process began. Hopefully this isn’t a case of Tillman micromanaging the hiring process and scaring off better candidates.

Bad defense and concerns about recruiting don’t seem to be what Major is looking for. I will wait until this information becomes final on the DC. The rumored Oline coach looks like a great hire. We would have a bunch of guys with SEC experience on staff.
The fan base generally don’t have a clue as to who our assistant coaches are or their abilities.
