Nope as it is instinct, I never considered anything about the claps.
Im gonna guess it is because most american popular music is played in 4/4 and we clap in double time…(during deep in the heart of Texas)
Even if you only clap 3 times, you have to hesitate for the first note not being played. Or since its double time, half of the first note. Any music majors out there free to pitch in
