of course it DOES…that is their audience.
They would essentialy reduce their fan base by millions.
of course it DOES…that is their audience.
They would essentialy reduce their fan base by millions.
That’s how I see it.
And that’s why I’ve always said that any P2 breakaway would most likely add ND and a few other large ACC schools.
NOT UH…and probably not anyone else.
list the 36 school you think belong.
and WHAT the rest stop playing football?
I feel like this statement is regurgitated on this board in some form or fashion every month.
No it doesn’t, and no it isn’t.
Their audience is THEIR fans, NOT the other schools’ fans.
See RetiredConsultant’s post.
A breakaway P2 plus ND and a few of the largest ACC teams would more than capture the vast bulk of the college football viewing audience.
It wouldn’t need any of the rest…MUCH LESS UH.
THOSE are the people who watch the other games.
Alienate them …regulate them and you will see them finding other things to watch.
I agree, Navy shouldn’t get special treatment.
Both Army and Navy are football only members of The American. They both play the rest of their sports in the FCS Patriot League.
AFA is a MWC school and it’s my understanding the conference requires their members play all sports the conference supports as a conference member.
Why would anyone watch that?
If that happened, you can count me out as a fan.
We have an OUTSIDE shot to be the B1G’s Texas school if we keep building
Before an actual super league is formed, I think a Big 10 x SEC scheduling agreement will be formed.
When that happens, it essentially makes it useless for the Big Ten to add a Texas school when they’re being scheduled with UTexas and and Texas A&M
Even in a mere P2 scheduling agreement, UH is screwed
With statements like this, you keep him energized in these threads, with his usual “UH is not good enough” “ No one is good enough for the Big Ten” posts.
Which 36?
I think we’ve been through this ad nauseum.
Variation One: Existing P2 plus ND and Florida State or Clemson, or both (that’s technically 37 if both, but close enough).
Variation Two: Existing P2 minus the following parasites: Vandy, NW, Maryland, and Rutgers, PLUS Notre Dame, and the four or five largest ACC teams. (35-36)
Either model would give you the vast bulk of the existing college football viewership nationally, and would include only those programs large enough to be able to afford a truly professional model.
Of course UH would NOT be one of those.
As for the other schools…they probably would continue to play, but they would not play at a level equal to the Power 36/37 and would, for all intents and purposes, be a second tier league.
Hell, D3 schools won’t quit playing just because they are D3.
In fact, the number of D3 schools seemingly continues to grow.
Your logic is strange sometimes. The fact that UH won’t be playing in that hypothetical Power 36 hardly means that UH won’t be playing at all, if that’s your theory.
UH will simply be playing in the next highest level college football league, whatever that might be.
Just looking at last week’s ratings.
Of the top 20 most watched games, The 3rd, 6th, 9th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th & 20th MOST watched games featured schools outside of the current P2.
Many of those viewers also watched P2 games over the weekend.
You WANT to alienate those fans and tell them they now play in the minor leagues??
They will boycott the break away like no other!
It’s not that no one is “good enough.”
It’s that only a small number of programs are BIG ENOUGH to add value to the P2.
UH certainly is not one of them. That’s one of the smallest, least attended, and least viewed programs in the P4.
ND would be…that’s why they are the ONLY school with a perpetually open B1G invitation.
UH has never even been in the running.
It’s not about how “good” your program is. It’s about how BIG your program’s brand size is.
Ours isn’t close. I can’t imagine anyone thinking or believing otherwise.
It’s not the point. The point is that you say this literally every month on this board. As if we haven’t heard you say it before. (Sigh)
The SUM is GREATER than the PARTS.
Alienating millions of football fans by telling them their squad is now minor leagues will have devastating results.
Right now, those fans ARE your audience
Because he keeps saying incorrect stuff to the contrary.
As long as he does…why SHOULDN’T I correct him?
You’re not contending that what HE is saying is accurate are you? Are you saying you AGREE with him on that?
If so, then you’re probably nuts.
Someone needs to beat that point into him, and if not me or you…then WHO???
I remember when Sam Houston St. fans didn’t want to play in the FBS. They liked the FCS and playoffs over topping off their season by winning the “Dave’s Hot Dog Bowl” trophy.
Dude…I just posted fact on WHO actually watched the games over the last weekend.
Actual Recent figures…not conjecture
The “non P2 games” are plentiful in the the top 20 most watched games ratings list
Who freakin cares??!!!
To an extent I agree, but that’s only because there are a lot of different networks that want to broadcast a lot of content beyond the maybe 16 matchups per week that a 36 team league would give them.
That’s the ONLY thing, as I say, keeping a power league bigger than 36 and closer to 70 or so alive.
