Would be a much better tournament if Dick Vitale was not part of it. While I appreciate his cancer campaigns and the good they do, too much history to be a fan of his.

People like overreacting about Dickie. He’s always been a Front runner.
Coach Lewis would have been in the HOF many years earlier if not for him. Coach would never say what caused the bad blood, but alluded to the fact that he did not suck up to the east coast elite and that did not set well with Vitale. Even after a few scotches Coach wouldn’t elaborate, but there was no lost love.

The bad blood between Guy V. Lewis and Dickie V is result of Vitale’s recruitment of 6-6 forward Jerry Davis of West Oso High School in late 1970s when Vitale was head coach of University of Detroit.
Davis had been committed to UH before Vitale got involved.
Later a NBA draft pick, Davis was a freshman in 1978-79 for Detroit, but never played for the Titans under Vitale.

Dick has his favorites and caters to them but his impact on college basketball has been significant. I appreciate his accomplishments.
As for the game hope Duke embarrasses them.
Some will remember when Alvin Franklin became the starter in 83 he went on a rant how no team with a freshman PG would every win a national title.

Yep Davis was a virtual lock for UH. Him and his coach came to the Hof many times.
But that dang NIL got us at the last minute and Davis and his parents opted for the Motor City.
Guy was not very happy how things went down.
