Did UH and Architects in the resdesign of Fertitta leave any room for expansion?

We are really seeing now Ferttita Center the last two season while selling out season tickets be a liability becuase there are more fans that would but cant buy tickets due to the smaller compacity of Ferttita Center. This is some extra revenue UH is missing out on for season tickets. Did the Architects and Administration design Ferttita Center with the abilitiy to expand 1500 to 2000 seats? I think really that is probably about all the additional seating would need to take advantage of extra seaon ticket sales, and would also be really beneficial in UH gaining money from renting out Fertitta for more events like Concerts. AEW Wrestling has come to Fertitta the last two years and I am sure they would really love to have an additional 1500 to 2000 seats they can sell tickets for their event as well. Plus if get around 9000 could put you in the seating compacity to hold a pay per view with AEW which be great exposure for UH as well. Plua bigger high profile bands might start looking at Fertitta for concert options.

Currently because of the training facility’s L shaped footprint it means that cannot build Ferttita Center out and the only option is to build up, but based on the layout of Fertitta Center and the structure itselt I am not sure if can just add a second level to the arena within the current footprint without also having to build it out which like said not sure ther is room to do.

I think it is the right size especially given seeing other schools moving to smaller sized venues.

I just think around 9000 would be a great point becuase missing out on season ticket sales that are there now plus the additional revenue could get from non UH events. That 9000 compacity mark is right in the wheel house for bigger bands for concerts and wrestling like AEW to maybe even hold a pay per view event that harcore fans will actually come from out of town to see. So great exposure to UH. At 9000 seats UH could do so much more with Fertitta Center and gain extra revenue.

Isnt Fertitta center capacity about 8400? Spend millions to get 600 more seats? They are selling SRO tickets now, isnt that a cheaper solution?

It is a nice problem to have, sold out seasons, and talking about more capacity.

7100 I think

It was 8400 prior to renovations to Ferttita Center.

Noted, your right, I was going off this but when you click on it you see 7100.

Still, spend millions for 2000 seats what would be the ROI for those seats?

Well maybe UH missed out on not finding a way to keep around the 8400 compacity under Hoffeinz while still having thre sleekness of Fertitta Center. It doesnt hurt to have built a facilility with a little room to grow into.

Maybe add a second deck with a few rows of seats with additional club and luxury boxes if there is room. Those would get return on investment.

Agreed, I am sure they didn’t envision the situation we have now. I am guessing they could add a few at the top/back of seating sections. 1 or 2 rows? But you lose the remaining openness and would it making the walking area around the concourse much more narrow?

There is still a big gap between the circular cut out and the true ceiling of Fertitta Center. Wonder if that is enough room to at least add luxury boxes would bring in revenue. Unlike with TDECU adding more luxury seating to Fertitita Center is not a bad idea.

We’ve been on a great run for several years now. We sold out the season tickets right before we started but we haven’t even sold out for every game. With SRO we can fit about 7,300. 7,100 is official sellout.

It is perfectly sized.

We don’t need more seating. They’ll just increase prices and then the resell will be a lot higher as well increasing value.

Like said it pefect size for basketball but I am aslo thinking in terms of revenue when UH is not in basketball season. Having close to 9000 could be beneficial and based on the last two years there is demand for more season tickets but not enough seats.

Yes and they can redo small sections into some version of “premium setting” if the market demands.

The arena size when packed is a huge advantage.

Its tough to get the Carrier Dome (whatever it is now) rockin
not The F.

Does former UH QB Dave Piland have season tickets in the good seats ?
I think Ive seen him on TV a few times. Has a beard now if its him.

It’s plenty of seats, this run won’t last forever, what happens when and if we go back to average or bad again, guess what we will have an empty FC again with our finicky fans

One of the options the board of regents has to choose on was to raise the roof on ferrtitta Center by building big support colums on the outside. If rember it just was not in the budget. If we had done that then we could of put a middle handiging scoreboard and the two big scoreboards we have now could of been more seats to sell. I dont think the noise level of the arena would changes too bad with roof raised some.

Stop trying to make it convenient. Start accepting a place at the table. Google ‘college basketball season ticket wait list’ and see the programs
Duke, Gonzaga, Virginia, Villanova, etc. none of them trying to build 500 more seats for revenue.

Act like we’ve been there.

The FC is perfect the way it is. If some fans are missing out of live action, they should have purchased tickets sooner or get on the season ticket waiting list.

That is an incorrect number. It was 8400 before being revised as the Fertitta Center. Here is the correct info.
