I don’t know what made me think of it, but I remember in the 90’s having a Franklin planner that I used regularly. Now of course we have smart phones but the more tactile organizer just has a much different experience.
I recall trying to get into using one. I gave it a serious go for several months once.
Trying to get organized with it, and keep it up, slowed me down too much. Plus it was sort of bulky, at least mine was.
Didn’t work for me. But a lot of people were into Franklin Planners back when I tried it.
I ran across someone still using one a few months back. We even discussed it briefly. The planner worked for this person. Definitely old school.
The Remarkable 2 is an interesting product. Write on it like it’s a legal pad but then save what is written to the cloud, even convert to text. All sorts of cool features. Can recall docs later and continue notes.
Few folks at work showed me theirs. I recently bought my wife one. She is liking it a lot.
I love my Remarkable. I have a folder for each of my customers with different notebooks in each folder. My son uses one for school too.
I’ve been using At a Glance planners since 1997.
Still use one today.
What does one look like?
It’s somewhere with my old Rolodex most likely.
I loved the Franklin Planner back in the mid to late 90s. I got the “full size” version so I could take tons of notes. I remember the refills being outrageous though, something like $100. That’s back when $100 meant something.
I don’t miss my Franklin Planner at all anymore… I’m back to my old methods of hundreds of little scraps of paper and post it notes, plus various miscellaneous electronic worksheets and calendar entries and reminders.
I’m a mess.
Why would you miss it? You can still get them. Nobody said you had to stop using them.
As for myself, I prefer a weekly planner from Paperblanks. They use a lot higher-quality paper than Franklin does, which is important to me since the Zebra Sarasa pens I use vomit ink all over the page and have a tendency to smear/bleed on lower-weight paper. And they have really pretty cover designs, which makes them more appealing to me.
I’m fairly young and in a Tech job… But there are some things I will still make a point to write down. Personal Meeting notes, things to do… Etc
I have ADHD and it helps to keep things straight.
I haven’t tried using anything more expensive than a notebook.
I will drop stupid money on pens and mechanical pencils.
Ya gotta do what works for you. Nothing wrong with old school. I kinda miss it.
