Wow, this is really weak for UH
I feel like I am owed an apology by a few people on here…… ![]()
That Zenitz guy also previously reported that Fritz Tulane OC was coming with him as well and that was wrong… Maybe its a ploy lol
Hopefully it’s to negotiate a fat well deserved raise. But I’m not confident
His wife is a medical doctor who finished residency about nine years ago. Maybe she got a job in a Lubbock hospital. They have two daughters who are in the 9-13 year old range.
I can’t say I’m shocked he is leaving in general. Any DC/OC that’s good is always on a fragile short leash to leave.
Given the way the defense performed, I don’t think anyone should be surprised he would be a 1 and done.
That being said, Texas Tech of all places is a head scratcher. If it was SEC or B1G I wouldn’t as confused
As opposed to the Texas Medical Center.
I’m worried about losing some of our recruits
Football is a $h!tshow.
I’m not. Who cares. UH football is UH football. This stuff happens all of the time. They move on.
we appreciate your sources
Congrats to Tech they moved really fast on our guy and got what seems to be a great hire. Must be more to the story because like others have said doesn’t seem like an obvious move to pack up your family and move them from Houston to Lubbock for the same job.
Do we really think this is the same job? Let’s be honest….
I don’t see her working in Houston or NOLA but worked in Troy, AL and NY (near West Point). Pediatrician/Internist
Shiel stayed home for 2-3 years when she attended residency so maybe she is open to working in Lubbock. They went to school in Spartanburg, SC so a move out east would’ve made more sense.
Maybe the private support for the Barbay buyout was the Wood buyout and they have known this was coming. According to the Chronicle “Wood is not required to pay any remaining salary if he terminates contract without cause to accept position as a Division I head coach, any position in the NFL, after the final regular-season game of the 2025 season, or if Fritz is no longer head coach.”
From what Fritz has said about the job Barbay was doing it really sounds like Fritz does not run the offense, which would lead me to believe Fritz runs the defense and the D-coordinator is not that important, maybe Wood wanted to leave to get out from under Fritz’s shadow.
Most likely expected a raise and didn’t get it and now he gone

I moved it from the other thread… too many.
Appears to be done deal.
lol, that would be nuts if the case
Well this is perplexing…wonder wth is going on with all these OC/DC last-minute surprises…
CWF wanted to bring his OC Nagel from Tulane, dude ends up staying. Now an improved Defense under Woods jumps ship to TxTech ![]()
OC fired last week, Black Saturday, and now UH’s DC leaves.
Such is life at UH.
