Discussion: Shiel Wood accepts Texas Tech DC job

Fritz has another poor showing this year and his seat should be red hot in year 3. His coaching choices have been embarrassing for him. How he handled Early last year. The whole OC situation with Barbay. And now Wood. An embarrassment.

The issue is that we aren’t brainwashed like the team in College Station to blindly invest millions of dollars into a mediocre team which makes the administration complacent.

There is a balance that we have to figure out between being there through the tough times and just handing over money for a bad product on the field.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s been very a very shaky start, to say the least.

Did we finish dead last in conference with a first year head coach?

He’s probably going to get some of the position coaches to go with him, which means recruits decomit and players transfer.

Coaches changes like this makes players nervous since they don’t know how the new coach is going to view them.

This is making me question how he managed to handle things everywhere else before coming here.

Its not like he forgot how to run a program.

Its his first year and as has already been mentioned Woods has a track record of not staying put. It been 1 year and move on pretty much every where he been

And most of them are pretty meh. Unlike the rest of our football coaching staff, the DC’s performance was outstanding, especially considering the fact that the offense actually made their job harder. We didn’t hear excuses about recruiting and depth from that unit - just saw results.

Maybe he’s really just a one-year wonder who wouldn’t have sustained success, but it sure didn’t look like that.

So Fritz sucks is what you are saying?

If that’s not what I wrote, then that’s not what I’m saying.

You make it sound like he’s not good enough to hire a good replacement.

Now you’re talking stupid. Basketball isn’t exactly setting the world on fire right now

Even Herman found a way to keep his coordinators for their first 12 months here.

JESUS, Wood has coached at 7 different schools the last 8 years! He leaves almost every year. Quit acting like its our fault he left… He’s just doing what he always does…Next year, Tech will be waving goodbye when he jumps ship AGAIN…
