I’m surprised @pearland hasn’t posted his thoughts.

I would interview Oscar Giles for DC if Giles is interested. Giles is well connected in Texas.

A lot of overreaction in this thread.

Doug Belk broke them. They saw what a competent defense looks like this year and are terrified to go back

You got something to cry about?

Nah, I’m laughing. That’s a different emotion.

He is the common denominator in building our stout defenses. Under Herman and now Fritz

Perhaps we are barking at the wrong tree. Give Giles the job.

Don’t get pissed at me. We just our our stud DC to freaking TEXAS TECH the night before national signing day. Of course that pisses me off.

Remember, we are a presently a farm team for the bigs. If our players excel they will be poached by a higher bidder. Same goes for coaches if they are successful. This is not the end of the world. All we need to do is bring in the next up and comer. UH is a place were a new talent can get noticed, players and coaches. Losing coaches comes with success. Just look at all coaches that left Saban over the years.

Need to pay coordinators at least nine figures out the gate if we’re going to play big boy football.

Yeah, it pisses me off too.

Guess what?

I don’t say STUPID CRAP like we should shut the whole thing down, or words to that effect.

As it stands now we are all pissed at the situation.

The problem is, when you say CRAP like that…people get pissed at YOU…and rightfully so.

Again, with all due respect…GO AWAY!!!

Until the structural inequities created by media conglomerates are addressed, programs outside of the Sec and B1G will continue to be the Green Room for coaches hoping to interview their way into the big time. Just as Tech hired Wood away, some school will most assuredly hire him away from Tech if successful, especially given his demonstrated penchant for changing scenery pretty quickly.
That said, Houston’s long term success is inextricably tied to its ability to grow a loyal fan base. It may be a chicken and egg thing, but winning certainly helps:

They have a ton of mega boosters like we do, but they’ve motivated their boosters to support athletics better than we have. The amount of money they’ve dumped in to their facilities and NIL fund is insane.

We must play the game or get left behind! Donate to our NIL fund or stfu
