Do newer fans/students not know how to cheer and be loud?

It’s TIME for another draw play up middle…right into a stacked box!

Houston fans that like to be loud need a support group section at games these days. Dana has killed the energy in the building so bad that I feel like an isolated idiot when I’m the only one yelling when the opposing offense is on the field. After yelling for the majority of the first half drives, I eventually gave up and sat down and shut up like the other 90 percent of fans in the building. The entire program is flat, from the play on the field all the way up to the fans in the stands.

Bleacher Creatures and Coogs of CV3 were there but even they were leaving towards the end. That 4th down pass was like WAT

We were cheering and telling everyone to quiet down during offense. They’ll get used to it, it’s growing pains I guess haha. Stadium has been loud these two games.

Why dont you suggest to the powers that be that we practice A&M style.

i think we should be able to get several thousand to participate at first.

It can be a new tradition.

Do it the Houston way with BBQ and the works.

If you don’t sound like Darth Vader on Sunday morning, you didn’t cheer loud enough.

Your right - high school football has changed drastically in this city - the demographic changes are playing a huge role

HISD used to have several schools fill up the stadiums easily - now you have NONE! what district is UH in?

I saw a fort bend rival game the other night - not sold out - in the early 90s it’s standing room only

Aldine, spring branch, parts of spring and cy fair are jokes when it comes to attendance

This may be the first fb game some of these kids attend honestly!

Yes, I’ve been saying this as well. No consistency, its no wonder some don’t know what to do and when to do it. At least put a PSA on the board right before the opening ceremony stuff. But I like the tie in to the intro song. GNR is okay , but I’d prefer Metallica. Or even Pantera, something heavy

At least they stopped the “3rd down in the 3rd ward” thing. Now they just do the undertaker gong sound with the GET LOUD sign. I thought it was pretty loud at the top, in the first half anyway.

Undertaker is about right.

It’s also rough on the vocal chords when our offense keeps going 3 and out, forcing our defense back onto the field…

We thought of this, we just teach it in our group and it spreads.

But bit of an update: I’m no longer suggesting to really talking to the powers lol. I could go on a long emotional rant about it but it’s nothing against anyone anyway. In short, my priorities have simply changed and I’m just here to have fun win or lose. I have a PhD to work on and I’m more focused on myself, my research, and supporting the University in other meaningful ways. After a long week, I just want to watch the game with my friends.

I think organized chanting like midnight rage/or a club coog cage thing where people from the organization and the orientation would get together and do chants would legit help.

Idk what happened between you and the powers but hopefully it’s nothing political. I understand about you wanting to focus on the things that matter including the WS or LS of the football team.

It was an idea over the summer!

It was nothing political at all. I’ve just lost interest in doing it! I’m happy with what was accomplished with the org but I need to change my style up at UH and life stuff since I’ve been here a while and will be here a while.

Well u might as well stay home and watch on TV, everyone should be super loud on 3rd downs, anyone remember the Louisville game that was LOUD

I wish I had stayed home, being at the game broke me.

Our fan base is just in the doldrums right now and it spills into overall atmosphere at the game. We haven’t had an exciting team for quite a while.

The atmosphere of the stadium can absolutely change. It just takes an exciting product on the field. … and yes I know about teams like Nebraska filling up stadiums and loudly cheering during three win seasons. We’re not that program…

At Roberstson, I was in a very rowdy section (we had a few visits by authorities). We were a hungry fan base fighting against the world with a hell of a QB and leader in Case Keenum. Fast forward a few years and that Louisville game at TDECU was freaking epic.

So, it can be done.

Hightower v Ridge Point? If so, I was there too and disappointed in the student section for Ridge Point.

There are a handful of schools who have rowdy fans and student sections. Houston is bad sports town for the most part.

We’re just hard to please. Houston fans get behind teams with success and buzz. see current Astros and Luv Ya Blue Oilers.

We don’t blindly support programs win or lose like some other fan bases. It just is what it is.

this is why a head coach, for this specific job (HC @ UH) HAS to be a premiere marketer.

A “head down” poor communicator type of coach will NOT connect with the fans Unless he beats everyone 70-0.
