Audition time?

Yes, Virginia…there IS a Santa Clause…
Nobody (ever) will be lining up to hire this guy.
Now, for God’s sake, make a great hire…
PLEASE !!!

Hire Gibbs, he was the best we have had in decades. And he will be out of a job at Tech now.

ESPN is reporting Carrel too. So it must be true!

Hey at least the dude was employed this year. :slightly_smiling_face:

So ESPN knows and is more credible than Berman or Duarte…plsss. When anything is official UH SID-- DBass releases it to Duarte/Berman. Those two are around the program the most. They may have wind of stituation but will not come out and release any news until they receive official notice from UH Athletics. They will not sacrifice their standing with the programs so they can be first. So perfect ex. of that was today. I’m sure Duarte had strong idea that it was happening but he wasn’t going on record until official. Most know this but he and Berman always release news at same time for almost all Athletic news releases that are given to them at once.

We still have a bowl game!

I just hope Opie doesn’t pull a Levine and give the LB coach the job before the bowl game.

Carrel’s been someone that is being groomed for bigger things. He’s also the elder statesman of the defensive coaches as he’s been around since the Herman days. Good reward for him.

He isn’t going to be the new DC though. We’ve already been in contact with a couple of former UH coaches about the job (one that has been mentioned many times, and one that hasn’t but has previous DC experience).

Gibbs, Naivar, and Brian Stewart all likely to be candidates at some level.

That would have been 2 of my guesses.

Scan teams set up with powerful offenses and see who has the best D. Then evaluate fit.

Naivar has 10 plus years as a coordinator at the college level, but some were as a Co-DC so I am not sure if he called the plays or not.

Gibbs or Stewart I have no problem with either if we brought them back.

Naivar also has special teams coordinator experience.

Denofrio was the LB coach

I wonder if a good DC would want to risk coming to UH given that CMA will most likely be on a short leash next year !!
