Within this topic, we need to recognize CKS and the assistant coaches and staff that have played a major role in the development.

  • Coach Kellen
  • Coach White
  • Coach Price
  • Coach Beard
  • Athletic Trainer Houston
  • Strength Coach Bishop
  • Director of Basketball Operations Lauren Sampson

I know there is more support staff but this is the core that has been with CKS the longest.

Amazing to have this type of continuity and it shows with the product they have built.

Shead was our MVP last year, we had this discussion at the time. Its alright you disagree. No need to rehash.
I found all your arguments in this thread valid but still vote for the obvious choice, Francis.

I would say tie between Sasser & $ head lastcseason…

I wouldn’t use that list as a basis of my argument. That list was borne out of bias and ignorance, not research and facts.

Be honest Pesik.

You didn’t want to go with the obvious choice, or even the next guy or two….

That’s no fun to be like everyone else right?

You picked Shead, not because you really believe it but because it was a different choice and you would get to really dig into obscure numbers to prove how your expertise was so much greater than everyone else.

Am I warm?

Coach Beard? Any relation to Chris?

points per is an obscure stat??? please stop

this is such a terrible read

i said it because i genuinely believe it … i saw a preseason big 12 all conference list for top 3 teams, shead wasnt on it…, some had him 3rd team… shead is the favorite for big 12 player of the year today

you are cold, terribly cold… try not to physco analyze in the future, not your skill set… if anything my response is hiding that i think francis just figured out how to not constantly foul, he has always been a elite shot blocker (broke the texas record as high school junior), its a bigger jump to go from glue guy to NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR… than “i learned to stop fouling” …i just didnt want to seem like i was dogging Francis, it not like francis starting pulling up mid range jumpers

today i learned points per game is an obscure stat

Today I learned you’re incapable of truth.

It’s all because Shead wasn’t on a Big 12 pre-conference list? :joy:

But you didn’t believe that he wasn’t good enough to be on these “lists” did you?

I mean we are talking the DPOY in the AAC last year who we’ve all seen do work against the “elite” programs in the NCAA’s.

You never believed he was not worthy of those pre-seasons teams….so how is he most improved based on these “lists” that you don’t even believe….
Nobody who knows a damn thing about basketball considered Shead a “glue guy” coming into this season……good grief.
Anything to sell a lie I guess.

That’s non-sense.

Unless,

You don’t believe Shead even warranted 3rd team pre-season this year ?!!! and if that’s the case you just proved to be a horrible judge of talent.

Which is it ?

And I’m “cold” for calling BS when I see it? Ok Pesik.

Shead just a glue guy, worst take yet

Sheads definitely elevated his game this year but calling him a glue guy prior to this year is pretty disingenuous.

you “bs calling” is terrible…im calling bs on your BS calling. inception

to answer your more terrible take and mental gymnastics…

no i did not think shead would be in the conversation of NPOY… no one would have giving an honest evaluation in the preseason would have said that

i think sasser should have been dpoy last year, thats different convo

i thought shead would earn his way into an all conference team; example ive noted 40 times that i think senior sharp will be debated as the greatest scorer in the sampson era… all becuase i think sharp will develop into something, doesnt mean he should be credited for that development if he does get there… us “believing” in shead to develop doesnt mean he shouldnt be credited for the development
…and again being honest, i would have predicted 2nd/3rd team… he wasnt putting up the point till recently that i thought hed get first team… preseason i thought cryer would be the all-american candidate

– also “Nobody who knows a damn thing about basketball considered Shead a “glue guy”” he is literally on the 2 biggest “glue guys teams” made by seth davis, and rothstein before the season, 2 different lists… and before we argue that rothstein doesnt know ball, thats fine… but the seth davis does know ball that isnt debateable
here is ana articel talking about the lists

id bet money seth davis knows more ball than you

I’m not sure there’s anyone who’s opinion I value less than Seth Davis lol

But it’s cool that you posted a tweet calling Shead a glue guy. I could post the video of Kendric Davis calling Shead our best player last year. Holds about as much water. One person saying something doesn’t make it a fact.

lmao that take was kendric davis being salty… he said he was the best guard in the league…and deserved POY over sasser… he said if anything shead was the better player… as a shot at sasser

i dont see how we are equating seth davis to a bitter player politicking for an award… again he is also on rothsteins glue guy list too

let me be clear if you dont view shead as a glue guy, or ever did, thats fine. but pretending that perception never exist that is what is disingenuous… i didnt make up the take

J’wan has had his Gorham moment.

I agree with you about KDs comments but Seth Davis is a hack. Lol

I’ll just leave it there. For the record I don’t have an issue with you picking Jamal as MIP.

As the Iron Sheik would say “Seth Davis? Hah! Phew!”

Playing into the recent deal he just signed, I will say Shead has always been the gas that powered his Cougar teams. Sampson said Jamal was our most important player last year. Nuff said
