Eight Houston Billionaires - Future BOR?

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/article/forbes400-houston-texas-billionaires-22445713.php

Can’t we get one of these folks to join our Board of Regents?

Jeffery Hildebrand - Hilcorp - currently Ambassador to Costa Rica

Richard Kinder - Kinder Morgan

Dan Friedkin - southwest Toyota - interested in sports and leading effort to bring NHL to Houston

Tilman Fertitta - OK, he gets a pass - currently Ambassador to Italy

Randa Duncan Williams, Dannine Avara, Milane Frantz and Scott Duncan - all siblings of Enterprise products

do any of them other than tilman have any ties to UH?

Friedkin has RICE ties.

Probably not a good fit.

The Kinders favor Rice it seems; but they do focus on healthcare , so maybe the College of Medicine has a shot. Of course with Tillman’s name on the college , that may be a no go ?

Definitely need more billionaires on the board.

Fertitta’s son is on the BOR.

Yeah, Patrick Fertitta is there, which
is good. He graduated from USC, but being his family’s name is on the college of
medicine, that may be good long term pipeline for the university and college.
Would be great if more local billionaires were involved.

He’s a good kid. I guess I can’t call him that now. I think he will do well by UH both short and long term. My son was an assistant coach where he played HS football. A little obnoxious at times (what 17 year old with that much family wealth wouldn’t be?). They loved talking sports together.
