Conner gonna do what Jamal Shead did and come back an animal. Just enjoy the ride

For someone who had a so-so career at TAMU and almost no career at UH, Allen has hung around the NFL long enough to pick up nice paychecks as a journeyman player. I don’t know where he is on qualifying for a NFL pension, but he has to be close, if not already qualified.

Considering he is set for life financially, and has made a lot of contacts in the NFL, he can pursue whatever his passion is after football. That, to me, is a successful football career.

Journeymen is not an easy life in the NFL. You’re essentially living off $1 Million dollar contracts per year, constantly having to train and hone your skills daily just to fight for a spot as a backup, anxiety of being cut at any moment’s notice. Worst of all, you’re constantly having to reassess your living situation.

You’re essentially on eternal thin ice. One slip up and you’re done.

That being said, it’s an opportunity that most average joes like us would probably die to have

Living off of a million a year. Yeah, that’s hard…

I would bank on Conner returning for his senior year, regardless of the stats. I’d say just focus on being 1-0 each week and the rest will play out

If he has a great year (I’m talking a championship appearance which would thus lend to a CFP appearance), then he’s not going to risk another year in college.

The kid wasn’t a 3-star walk-on. He was a 5 star, highly recruited Quarterback that was a part of the highest rated recruiting class in Texas A&M’s history. Similar to Kyle Allen, being a 5 star automatically gives you an upper leg in the draft evaluations; therefore, he’s not going to risk an injury if he has a shot at the NFL this year.

I also assume that Keisean Henderson intends to be a true freshman starter once he arrives on campus. The #2 QB in the 2026 recruiting class is not going to redshirt at a non-P2 program. If he is going to commit to Houston over SEC/B1G teams, then it’s Keisean who has the leverage. Not UH.

There is no tangible or documented or binding evidence or evaluation of “P2” other than the figments of imagination of those trying to push a nonexistent narrative and/or want attention.

Barbershop talk isn’t put on paper.

AP bias, CFP at large bids, media payouts, and tv viewership suggests otherwise

Once a player signs with a P2 they should shut it down wait for the draft. Look at Archie Manning, had he not played he was going to be a first rounder

Henderson will have to beat out Carlisle. And if Weigman did happen to come back he will be our starting QB.
see Lagway and Manning as examples of not getting the job done as freshmen

I’m going on record saying I believe Connor Weigman will be back for his Senior year, regardless of his “draft stock”. And also… that KH will redshirt and learn how to play the game under Willie’s coaching and CWs mentorship. Saying otherwise, I believe, sells them both short, with in terms of their character. Willie has spoken, numerous times, about their character, and their love for Houston. I also believe it will be their best course of action, in regard to their future “potential” NFL careers.

Yea. Poor bastard has only made $8.3 million at age 29.

Arch’s last name boosted his rankings. I think it’s fairly obvious. You’re comparing Texas to Houston. There are levels to this, and Houston just isn’t on Texas’ level in recruiting.

With that being said…

  • Weigman: If he has a good year, then it would be incredibly unwise to not declare for the draft. Like I said above, his recruiting ranking is still on file. Add that with a good season (Championship and/or CFP appearance), and he is going to be a draft prospect. He will make more money in the NFL than NIL at UH. The only reason Weigman would ever return is if he has a bad season. If he has a bad season, then I don’t see how you assume he’s the automatic starter next year.
  • Austin Carlisle: a 3 star recruit that only got offers as a QB to 1 P4 school (Houston). If I had to take a guess, I believe that Fritz is going to transition him into a receiver because of his speed. If Carlisle has NFL dreams, it won’t be at QB in today’s age.
  • Keisean Henderson: recieved offers from not just the P2, but from the ELITE programs of the P2. That’s all that really needs to be said.

I am sure Henderson and Carlisle will “compete” for the starting job, but Henderson is on an entire different level as a QB talent-wise.

If you think Henderson commited to UH (instead of the various SEC/B1G schools he could’ve went to) just to be a backup behind a 3 star, then you may be insane (joking here but the point stands).

You have to also keep in mind that other highly rated recruits are committing to UH because of Kesiean himself… They aren’t committing to catch balls from Carlisle.

If Weigman/UH reaches the Big 12 championship, and wins… then that is a CFP birth.

If that happens, then why would Weigman stay another year at UH and risk an injury when he would be making millions more in the NFL? What if he stays another year and tanks his draft stock?

UH win the B12 and is in the CFP this year. I like the sound of that.

We have a long way to go, but I like the sound of that.

agreed, but my point is that if Weigman returns, it’s likely because he didn’t have a defining season.

If he doesn’t have a defining season, then you can’t really assume he would be the starter next year when we have 2 other QB’s (one who is the #2 QB of 2026) competing.

Media bias is not on paper. Media payouts is based on viewership.

My point is that few freshman step in and start immediately. Please remember that Henderson comes from a small private school in Spring, and let’s just say he hasn’t gone up against top competition.
Henderson is a terrific athlete, and most schools recruited him as a receiver/athlete.
Carliste went way under the radar at Ridge Point but played very well against top flight competition. He is a true leader and competitor, and yes he can step on to the field at several different spots if needed but I expect him to compete for the starting role if Wiegman leaves. I think Weigman is drafted or gets a bigger bag at a bigger program.
But at the same time he will have a year under his belt and is one of the fastest quarterbacks we have ever had here.

A lot of “if’s”. I think Wiegman will be back. And I don’t think KH will leave if he has to be #2, behind a proven starter like Wiegman. On another note… isn’t it nice to have a 5-star QB in Connor Wiegman, and one of the top ranked HS QBs in the country coming in next year?
