Elon Musk Says X Growth Is ‘Stagnant,’ Revenue Is ‘Unimpressive’ in Leaked

https://www.axios.com/2025/07/10/musk-xai-twitter-grok-x

I saw the headlines about Grok babbling anti-semitic stuff but didn’t know it started calling itself MechaHitler. Funny and sad.

"After Grok started calling itself “MechaHitler,” Musk’s deputies at xAI pulled its plug and reset its instructions.

Advertisers on X probably took notice, again.

Speaking of the lawsuit, last I saw was a request to dismiss the suit made by advertisers on May 15th, but nothing more.

OTOH, this article mentions the suit working to some degree with a few advertisers returning, but much lower spend.

Yea, I think it continued on that antisemetic b.s. after they pulled it briefly too.It was also spewing all sorts of stuff about the now former CEO, and giving instructions on how to break into someone’s house or something. Obviously, there is someone or some people feeding it crap, and people have figured out how to exploit that flaw.

I wonder if some returned with a much lower spend as just a strategy to negate the lawsuit. I still notice most of the ads these days are like the most random X posts from random X users. I look at them and can’t figure out why someone would pay to turn their post into an ad.

My thoughts as well. Also with X being the training feed into Grok, advertisers just got handed a gift if the lawsuit does play out.

Can one person have too much power over everybody else?

Yes I think so, since money equals power.

But how do you deal with the ultra super wealthy ? Regulations,
the traditional answer in limiting how money can be spent on politicians and lobbying, is not in favor in this era of “all guvmint bad” think.

There are a number of folks in their echo chambers that adore and worship this class of ultra super wealthy. They take their word as truth.

If I replied with an honest non binding opinion of Citizens United, I’d be banned.

That’s how bad things are. Sincerity is overrated so that BS and gaslighting can reign supreme.

Hell, even that simple statement might be enough. Wouldn’t surprise me if this thread now gets closed. Got to protect the thin skinned and special people from getting their feelings hurt by a different opinion. :frowning:

Your accusation of why we moderate political threads is offensive. You continually act like our moderation is motivated by a particular political point of view, and that’s just not the case. You have plenty of other places you can go talk politics in depth, with no moderation. Go to any of those others to say what you feel needs to be said about politics, society, etc.

I gave an honest opinion based on personal observations of whose posts get deleted, whose posts get hidden, whose posts get free reign and whose threads get closed and removed.

As far I know and unless I’m badly mistaken, that post did not break any rules yet it sounds like I’m being invited to leave.

Back on topic, can one person, like Elon Musk for example, have too much power over others?

How could you know which posts get hidden or deleted? You know yours but others?

One can see what posts are hidden and who wrote them (sometimes I will have already seen the content, sometimes I don’t) and when I see a post then it disappears (whoever wrote it) then I know it was deleted. Also, some threads are deleted while others are merely closed.

That’s all based on my observations. Am I wrong?

Yes, you’re wrong. I delete a lot from both sides. You don’t see it all.

You also don’t know who has been banned. You’re acting on very incomplete info.

And you’re reading way too much into what is closed vs deleted. The vast majority are closed but don’t think anyone is thinking much into that.

You’re looking for bias that isn’t there. Dustin and I do the best we can.

You’re the boss so I’ll back off but I know what I see and those who receive a temporary ban live to tell about it when they return, usually by private message.

I’m gonna go out a limb and say those from the other side politically aren’t telling you anything. Yet it’s happening to them too. Honestly, we are probably more lax than we should be to both sides but we try to let people have discussions.

Both sides regularly complain about moderating saying we are biased.

I appreciate that and no one has ever said otherwise. We just have a different opinion of particular instances. Nothing more. Nothing less.

There’s no right and wrong here, imho, just a difference of opinion as per the accusations cited above. Mind reading is overrated and observations can be misconstrued. Go Coogs!

I think the difference of opinion is largely based on how much information you have. Trust me, it’s not one sided like you think.

No, your continued complaints are that we in general favor one particular side. You are gaslighting with this attempt to frame it as a difference of opinion on particular instances. If there are particular instances you want to discuss with us, you can always send us a message when those instances come up. Instead you continually complain in a general sense, and then do this when we push back. If you want to discuss this further with me or RT, message us. We’ve taken too much space in this thread as it is.

Musk may sink Tesla money into Twitter now.

Seems like a violation of shareholder interests. Yes, even considering it would need a vote by shareholders. IMHO, this would be a clear violation of Tesla’s fiduciary duties to all shareholders.

It wasn’t that long ago that he used xAI to buyout/bailout his Twitter/X holdings. I will have to read more later to see if there is some sort of stated business competitive strategy for this but I would expect this will spur shareholder lawsuits, if approved.

Some guys only see what they are looking for.
