Saw this tweet from Cody Campbell reacting to Mike Lombardi traveling to Saudi Arabia looking for foreign investors for the North Carolina football program. I am not in favor of college sports aligning with private equity and I am sure as hxll not in favor of college sports aligning financially with foreign investors.

This is inevitable.

I canā€™t see it leading to a breakaway (Football programs disconnecting from Universities) because the entire reason these programs are supported is due to its relationship with the universities.

But yeah, itā€™s inevitable.

You cant say that when the biggest heavy hitter schools in the BIG come out and say no, they dont want it. They can talk all they want, but i dont think theyll do it.

At the conference level, sure.

At the individual program level, thereā€™s nothing stopping Saudi Arabia with getting involved with UNC football.

If Private Equity canā€™t get involved with conferences, then they will just get involved with individual programs.
