Eusan, Lynn Cecelia

I think we need to sometimes remember and reflect where we come from and how far we have come and still need to go. Lynn Eusan Park is named after this lovely woman and alum and 1st Black Home Coming Queen, at a majority white school at the time, it made national headlines as her murder did as well, which is unsolved to this day a lot of the current and past student body and alum don’t know why we have a Lynn Eusan Park. UH was University caught in the midst of the turbulent 60’s and early 70’s as change was happening in the country as well as on UH campus like on many Universities and institutions throughout the nation. She’s a reminder of that but more importantly I feel collectively we can be proud of, because she was one of our own a Coog.

Nice, I only knew it as the park where they kept the live Shasta while I was at school. Thanks for the education.

Thanks for sharing!

I knew the homecoming queen part, but didn’t know the depth of her civil rights leadership. I certainly didn’t know about her murder.

Some outstanding accomplishments at such a young age. It’s a shame she was cut down so young.
