when there’s little demand because of oversupply people drift away. The dome has helped kill off several teams so obviously that was a factor. Several teams have dumped pro stadiums to come back home. If we stayed in NRG your now paying $15 to park and we got nothing out of it plus tons of seats in a venue who’ll only change for the Texans.

College football is meant to be on campus. Time Robertson was ready to go the Big 12 was already in place.

Imagine if UH would’ve dominated the old CUSA . . . it could’ve set itself up for the last round of expansion or realignment, who knows. But since UH couldn’t dominate that conference nor our OOC schedule, UH did the best it could by joining a soon to be broken Big East.

I also have stated in the past that the AAC is a glorified CUSA, but over the last 5 years, the AAC programs (including our old CUSA partners here) has shown more commitment to athletics, facilities and being overall more competitive than they or we ever did in CUSA.

I’d like to see UH win and dominate the AAC in football and basketball before I start bashing our old and existing CUSA/now AAC partners again. We can’t seem to beat SMU or Tulane on a regular basis lately - so let’s start with that.

I personally never understood the arguement that it takes a “quality” opponent for Coogs to get excited. It’s football; you should be excited to see the sport played…period. Maybe some of us appreciate the sport just as much as we appreciate our team. I can watch anyone play (except UTA) and be excited.

When did the CUSA have more football teams in the final top 25 than the PAC, ACC, and Big12?

It happened last year for the AAC.

No doubt and no disagreement here. I’m a convert, I once was lost but now I’m found.

Yes the AAC isn’t the big time, but its the biggest time UH is going to see for the foreseeable future and it’s way better than CUSA.

We are in a fine conference.

Just in the past 5 seasons our champion has played in The Cotton Bowl, The Peach, and The Fiesta.

We do not make The Final Four because we are not good enough. Ask The 'Horns about that. Ask Nebraska. Miami. Many former powerhouses are no longer good enough.

I hope to make both the BYU and The Navy games this Fall. Great trips. Far better than Ames, Lubbock, Waco, Stillwater, etc.

It’s true, it ended up being all cusa teams in the AAC plus UConn now it’s just all cusa. However the teams from the old cusa have grown to be much better than they were because the AAC is a better conf than the old cusa with the better tv deal and branding. We also have proven in with new 6 bowls. So it’s not necessarily true to say it’s cusa once again. It’s much better.

  2. Navy compared to UTEP? 1 has a winning record 8 of the last 10 years and finished ranked twice. The other has 1 winning record in 10 years, has never finished ranked, and has 2 wins total over the last 3 years.

I like to think there are still many people that are fans of college football. That means watching entertaining games between college teams. I see too many people caught up in only Alabama, Ohio St or LSU because they only want to see the “best” and the “national champion” team. I have found many far more entertaining games that did not include those name teams to watch, and had fun.

To me, college football is about watching fun games, rooting for your team, beating rivals, etc… Not about only with the CFI, though that would be nice for everyone to have a shot at.

Hence the expansion I prefer is from 4 to 8.

The worse game last year for me was Prairie View…seeing us struggle the 2nd half against them was just awful. If we are going to play FCS teams, we should be crushing them.

  1. We shouldn’t be playing FCS games, in fact no one in the AAC should. schedule a weak D1 school instead, the the other conferences schedule an FCS, makes the AAC stronger.
  2. There is no way that the AAC is anything like the old or especially the new CUSA. We have had teams ranked (as many as four) playing in big bowls, have as many or close to as many guys going to the NFL as the Big 12, and are better than the ACC if you take out UConn last year.

The AAC has proven to be overall better than CUSA, BUT, it has not, nor will it apparently ever, get us P5 MONEY or TV!!!

True Law, however, the new deal gives us a huge amount more than we were getting and it is way more than CUSA or the other conferences get.

I’m actually kind of OK with playing local FCS teams at and only at TDECU. I count Rice as a local FCS team.

WHO - is this Rice that so many keep mentioning? We should NEVER play them again - in anything! Do any of you people know any-thing about their treachery over the years; I DO, and I have a very long memory!

I’m willing to forgive pretty much anything that anyone did to UH before they were even a public school.

Rice gives us an additional home game whether here or at their place and saves travel money and is not an FCS school.

I can certainly live with playing Rice (it’s effectively another home game, even when played at Reliant or Rice), but under NO circumstances should ANY true blue coogfan like them.

Their past history of treachery vs. UH should make all true blue coogfans automatically hate their guts.

NOBODY likes them. Period. I don’t like the idea of playing them in an empty Reliant, rather a fuller TDECU, or at their place with mostly UH fans.
