I don’t mind the NRG games, especially since the season ticket package includes a game ticket and parking pass. Much easier to persuade the wife versus attending a noon TDECU kickoff in early September.
Hate to say it but Tech fans won’t be attending so it will be bad, not because of the opponent but because of other obvious reasons.
Odds are realignment won’t be settled for most by game time. TTech fans that stay home will be doing a disservice to their U. They need to look like a team that travels. Everybody does that wants to be wanted.
And the starting time is?
Coming in from Annapolis MD for this one. COVID was rough, but life without Coog football was damn near intolerable.
Perhaps you have some friends, coworkers, etc. that are not Coog season ticket holders and you want to interest them in UH football. The Tech “home” opener at NRG has this 4-pack starting at $99 in the nosebleeds, which includes pizza and drinks for each ticket holder. Pretty good deal to watch in person high quality college football in a nice air conditioned stadium. Of course, there should be plenty of empty seats which should allow you to move closer to the action. Let’s get some casual fans out to the game!
Being how Texas Tech has been willing to play us more times than any other of the Texas schools after the SWC Conference broke up, If UH is added to the Big 12 now then I could see the Coogs vs Raiders being the annual rivalry game which would be a lot of fun. I see A&M being forced to play UT in the SEC now but dont see them setting it up to be an annual rivalry game on the same week each year like it use to be. I could see A&M wanting to treat it like any other game on the schedule like the rest of the SEC teams.
Perhaps this game is now a preview of future Conference mates?
The ticket office has to lower prices now. These tickets were already inflated.
Look at the seat map…clearly, UH is greatly outpacing TTech fans in ticket purchases. We’ve sold out the entire lower sections while they’ve sold half of that. It won’t be close. UH fans will be 70-85% of the crowd I predict. That’s not a knock on TTech IMHO. Nothing wrong with 8-10K of your fans traveling and/or showing up to road game!!!
Is that on UH’s sight or somewhere else?
Tech fans are not coming from Lubbock.
They are coming from DFW and Greater Houston.
I predict they will buy, at best, 15,000 tickets. Why? Tremendous displeasure with the endless poor records and under-performances. Goes back to firing Leach.
This should take you there.
Thanks!
Looks like some TTech fans already trying to make a buck off the game instead of going. Whole first rows on their side are now available for resale. Wish I had stupid money…or maybe some enterprising Coogfan who does would buy up these and put students in them…LOL…

Letting go of Kingsbury probably wasn’t the smartest decision either. Understand TTU’s W-L record under Kliff wasn’t the greatest, but he did produce some exciting football and was able to develop some decent QBs there.
Just my opinion, but Kingsbury would have been a great fit as UH HC.
The key word here is “scary.” They are banking on scaring people into getting the vaccine (I have gotten it a few months ago). I’m for the vaccine; I am against all the fear mongering to accomplish the goal. I am against forcing people already vaccinated to wear masks – the CDC itself only a month or so ago said they weren’t required for those vaccinated or for children. Of course the media will never miss an opportunity to spread fear and panic.
Excerpt from an article by Marc Thiessen in todays Chronicle
"The data is clear: According to the CDC, as of July 19, a grand total of 4,072 vaccinated Americans had been hospitalized with symptomatic breakthrough infections, out of more than 161 million who have been fully vaccinated. That is a breakthrough hospitalization rate of less than 0.003%. Better still, of those hospitalized, only 849 have died of COVID-19. That means the death rate from those breakthrough infections is 0.0005%.
To put that in perspective, your chance of dying from a lightning strike is .0007%, and your chance of dying from a seasonal flu is 0.1%. If you’re vaccinated, you have a much greater chance of dying from a hornet, wasp or bee sting, a dog attack, a car crash, drowning, sunstroke, or choking on food than you do of dying from COVID-19."
Can infected vaccinated people give the virus to non-vaccinated people who end up hospitalized?
Yes.
I don’t feel sorry for the unvaccinated people who get sick and end up in the hospital. Everyone has had plenty of time and easy access to the vaccine, it’s their choice. I feel sorry for the healthcare workers having to take care of their sorry a$$e$.
I don’t wish any devastating illness or death on anyone, even the ignorant.
But I do agree 100% with you on the nurses who are getting worn to the nub by this pandemic.
