Sadly our program is falling into a downward spiral…

Sadly, I think it is already there!

Fall roster is up. Looks like CC Sabathia’s son transferred in from Georgia Tech.

It’s very telling that we just don’t recruit well in the Houston area anymore. Sad

27 pitchers and 51 overall players on the Fall Roster. That is completely ridiculous. They should not be screwing with that many kid’s lives. You can only keep 40 and only 27 can travel in the Big 12. When you can’t evaluate players, you just throw out a giant net to see who you might pull up. Thank God they are going to go to the 34 hard count next year. I don’t know where TW will be next year, but if he is coaching, he will have a tremendously hard time actually having to go out and recruit.

There is a reason for that….

Once he is gone you will see Showcase Coaches start considering UH as a place to send kids again.

This is what you see from Jucos……not D-1 teams.

My question is why on earth are some of these kids even coming here? There have to be at least 15 of these kids give or take that have no business talent wise even being on the roster.

So who are these coaches sending them here?! They should be at smaller D-1’s or Juco’s or somewhere else….

So yes, it does suck for these kids Baller….but there are some idiot coaches sending them here when they should know they don’t have the talent to make the roster much less play.

Not cool at all.

Heck, that’s light for JUCO world :grinning: #JUCOBANDITS

Pollard nailed it…Coaches sending some of these kids to D-1, is criminal…just doing it so they can post on site “Join our Program and be like Johnny Ballplayer signed with UH/TCU/Tech etc, etc”…and the poor kid ends up playing at 4 colleges by time he’s done. The kids/parents get hung up and star glazed on the label. I saw numerous kids that couldn’t hit .200 in HS and had minimal athletic ability signing with D-1s…most were gone by end of fall or were at best, shagging BP if stayed. Seen a lot of D-1 signees riding the pine in Texas JUCO.

In addition to the freshman we have a lot of transfers that I just scratch my head at……like why kid?

You are not going to see the field, why did you transfer here….or for some, you are not D-1 level….if TW told you otherwise, he lied.

I would never call out a kid by name but there are easily 15-20 guys that are out of their depth.

I completely agree with what you are saying about their previous coaches sending them to the D1 schools. It is a tough conversation but they need to have it with their players. We have a number of FR pitchers coming in that will never see the light of day. They are going to get asked to leave at the semester and it is going to set their career back quite a bit. As you also said, it is too important for these coaches to have a D1 player than it is to send them to the right place. You are only hurting the kid.

Easily. Maybe more than that!

I wonder if we will see CC Sabathia at the ballpark?

I would think so.

Andy Petitte used to show up.

Yes, you will see CC, if his son plays. He would go to every tournament his son was in during the Summer Ball Travel Circuit. It is amazing how different he looks now. Not an ounce of fat on him.

If you look at A&M fall roster they don’t post or have yet. So many kids and players sifted or they went through in last couple of years. I don’t like it nor the huge rosters, but seems that what many of the schools are doing now to compete with one another. As someone said, maybe this will not be as abundantly used over the next years with roster rules changes etc.

From what I’ve been told some by players and families is that they are still learning each other’s names. Be good to get a glimpse of them in October.

Like Pollard said, that used to be the way it worked at the Cisco JCs of the world, not D1. That’s a tough way to do things.

That is not how you build a team. A&M gets a ton of walk-ons because they are one of the top 5 programs in the country. Houston can’t even find 34 D1 kids to fill the roster.

Yes, next year will be different because they will only be allowed to have 34 on the roster.
