With UT and OU gone, whom/what do y’all think fills the vacuum?
The comish, any of the presidents or ADs? A combination thereof or perhaps the networks?
Does UH have any relationships here to work with?
Presidents and commissioner most likely with input from ADs. Dr. Khator and Tillman Fertitta met with West Virginia’s president back in ‘16, and they know Mack Rhodes and surely others as well.
This is all football driven. OU won the Big XII for the last 6 seasons. Briles is gone from BU. Leach is no longer at TTU. Snyder is no longer at KState. Patterson and TCU wield the most football power now in that conference?
I will say ESPN now calls the shots and the teams fall in line. If there is a single team that fills the void, it will be like Farmer Ted in “Sixteen Candles”: “I’m kinda the King of the Dipsh*ts”

IMHO, it’s about the MONEY . . . . . Sports becomes P4 and the 6 dwarfs . . . . . ESPN will not pay P money to either a depleted Big Whatever and they are already not paying P money to the ACC, even if they incorporate the leftovers . . . . . ESPN and Fox will have plenty of P games and will keep G games to Thursdays, Fridays and early, early Saturdays.
