Final Home Game Attendance Numbers

They should have an aggressive push to get our alums to attend ONE game a season but if we can get half of our alums to attend at least one game a season + our regular season ticket holders + visitors + our Houston area T-Shirt fans we could sell out every game.

We have two major hurdles.

  1. lacking a University culture that thinks attending games is important. Yes…other schools convert non football students into rabid supporters
  2. 6 day window for kickoff time

That’s a good idea for alums to attend just 1 game . The marketing dept needs to work on it with emails , mail outs , reduced pricing etc.

Again the AD needs to be on this

A buddy of mine and UH grad who sometimes goes to the game with me says he STiLL can’t believe they built the stadium with the unique downtown view, then filled it in with a metal building.

Even that second TD was into double coverage with a chance at being picked (DB just whiffed the PBU).

I’m with your buddy.

Yes make it like coming back to the university to see how it’s changed and support it.

I’d say, something like a homecoming.

In my opinion that is too broad. I would focus on graduates from the last 5 years. I remember after I graduated I felt like there was no real effort by UH to keep me engaged with the university. UH fans could do their part too. How about inviting new fans to your big tail gating parties? What the AD has already done to draw more students to games will bear fruit eventually but it will take time to develop a “sticky” fan base. Coogfans need to quit playing the victim. The city of Houston doesn’t have to support UH just because it’s in Houston. There are a bunch of colleges in Houston. It’s never going to happen. That stadium is too dang hot for day games and the area around UH is still sketchy. Stick to the plan and convert current students to future season ticket holders.

I wonder if we could get away with giving each graduate who contributes to the “class gift” at graduation a voucher for a ticket to one football game of their choice the following season? Just get them to come back to campus at all, it doesn’t have to be all-in on season tickets all at once. Could also be redeemable for a discount on a season ticket.

They already get a discount so that idea isn’t flying as it is .

The problem is that 75-80% (maybe more) have no desire to attend a single home game…it’s not even on their radar as a consideration.

How to be change that and tap into our oen alums…how do we get them to "just attend ONE "?

It would be interesting to know if any of the admin, including Dr. Khator, have ever gone to the upper decks during a noon game. Perspective is everything.

Ya, I don’t know why we left that awesome AAC schedule! Come on, this is a B12 schedule.

Nunez is working on night games, but not much you can do. This is HOUSTON. If that was the sole reason, the indoor, airconditioned Astrodome would have been packed.

Folks, if we cannot figure out why we can’t fill the stadium just open the latest University of Houston magazine Fall/Winter 2025 and look at the inside of the cover page where they hi light the RAD Center. How many of these students are UH sports fans? How many of them are wearing UH shirts? If this was Texas, TexasA&M, Ole Miss, Tech, OU or even Baylor for goodness sakes you would see clothing supporting their University.

Until this is fixed we will NEVER fill the stands with consistency. Winning helps but this is the root of the problem and has been for years.

Had AI generate an image of what our stadium would have looked like if we were a more traditional SEC-type school. It’s fun to live in a hypothetical world sometimes.

Here’s to hoping our gameday environment improves next season.

Actually they do, they send out a recent grad Alumni Association offer for the first 10 years at a discount for a Life Membership.

Lets do it! That looks amazing and much more appeasing to the eyes than the bland concrete and metal we got now.

This was posted on another thread but bears repeating.

Across the street from our Stadium are about 60,000 students, Faculty, and other employees.

How many of them attend our games?

We might have very low enthusiasm for Football right on our Campus.

Why is that?

I think you’re overestimating how many students wear school merch on a daily basis. At most places, merch is almost exclusively reserved for game days. This is a picture of one of UT’s dining halls; how much burnt orange do you see?
