Bingo. But don’t dare blame Tilman for this mess we are in now.
Bingo. The “safe” hire has come back to bite us on numerous occasions.
-Applewhite
-Holgorsen
-Fritz(TBD)
Go for the up and comer and hold on for dear life when the blue bloods start calling.
Applewhite wasn’t a full-on “Hire”.
He was a filler, and was given a chance to maintain continuity given he was the OC under Herman. Clearly, that didn’t work out. When D’Eriq King got hurt, it was over for Applewhite. We also lost half of our team in 2017 which wasn’t entirely Applewhite’s fault.
Willie Fritz hadn’t turned Tulane around yet when Applewhite was fired. He was never an option. Dana, was the “Leaving a P5 school for G5” coach. They thought that if he had access to a recruiting hotbed in a better city than Morgantown, he could get championships. Granted, he did make it to a championship, but he was not going to be successful in the Big 12 + NIL + Transfer Portal.
This will be a great thread to revisit later on I can promise that! Our entire athletic department would be comparable to Rice and still in the AAC if it wasn’t for Tillman.
And you know there is no way Sampson stays if FC isn’t built……
This FB season will be hard and yes the OC sucks. WF is not a quick turnaround guy……we all knew that.
Buckle up buttercups!
You do realize that Shawn Bell is the reason Keisean Henderson committed to UH.
I liked that move when it happened. I was blinded by my excitement. I’ll repeat myself in that hindsight is always 20/20.
Applewhite led teams to records of 8-5 and 7-5 in two seasons, only to be replaced by Holgorsen. After the damage created by Dana “the ship has sailed on recruiting” Holgorsen, who wouldn’t take an 8 or 7-win season right now?
The hubris of Khator “we fire coaches at 8-4” and Tilman, who never got an undergraduate degree from UH, have made this program irrelevant.
Hard times? This program has been an also-ran for almost a decade now. No juice.
Basketball school but I was wondering the same thing looking at the empty seats yesterday. Can we get to a point 35+k is avg attendance.
We absolutely can. But we need to create a winning culture. And we should have a winning culture. We aren’t some puny school out in the middle of nowhere
Dana (the hire you agreed with at the time) squeezed all the remaining juice out!
Except for Applewhite - Our leaders have largely made good decisions but they just haven’t turned out as we all had hoped. To recap at the time of their respective hires…… most fans liked the Dana hire, and likewise with Fritz.
So how are the decision makers ruining the program?
Where did I say anything about our basketball program?
Stick to football. Tilman is the reason we are a sh** show right now. Football.
How much are we paying Dana to hang out in Fort Worth??
Yes that’s right you only want to discus certain things that support your own stance. Anything that shows your illogical and emotional is irrelevant right?
Stick to the topic at hand. How does the amount we’re paying Dana affect us today? Those funds are not bankrolled by the program’s revenue. You’re aware of that right bro?
Donovan, log out of your burner and go read the playbook.
We did win 12 games a little bit ago
It’s going to be a long year with all the “sky is falling” crowd around here.
To be fair, UH was ill prepared to participate in BigXII football, the school had the wrong guy at the top of the program and has since hired a proven program builder who has a track record of building a culture and football program from recruiting all the way to the game day whistle.
I honestly think Fritz is going to turn this program around, but picking season 1 along with one of the league’s toughest schedules this year is going to test people’s resolve and steadfastness or their fight or flight instincts.
I subscribe to the buy and hold investing strategy with proven high performers (not without risk of course, but all big co’s). I’m definitely not the buy high and sell low some here approach with our coaching and staffing hires.
I’m looking for improvement this season and how CWF manages the glaring weaknesses from week 1. In other news, UNLV is well coached and their players came out to kick butt and did. We can’t take anything away from their effort, that squad kicked ass, period. Best of luck to UNLV.
lol. What? It is money that can be used to fund other things. What are you even talking about, bro?
Patrick, log off and tell dad to do better with the UH FOOTBALL program.
100% a burner bro. Lol
