They just reduced from 79k to 67k.
They mentioned a trend for more premium seats over more capacity.

Would hate to be one of the unlucky 12k.
Theyre reducing seating by 12,000? WOW…Do they struggle to sell out games there? Crazy.
Checking last year, they must have already started this renovation, Highest attended home conference game was 55,107 for Clemson and NC. So 67,277 will be 12,000 more than last year.
FIFY
I think removing seating for more luxury boxes is becoming more of a trend. Don’t want to cook your sponsors.
Fine staying at 40 and just adding another row of suites in the other end zone and some more amenities (more chairbacks , bathrooms, and concessions)
I hope those 10,000 lost seats did not have season ticket holders. If I lost my seats and needed to be relocated to a section I did not like, it could get ugly.
It’s a major trend. Here are some schools that reduced capacity by adding luxury options or building a smaller stadium;
Washington, Oregon State, Cal, USC, Arizona State, Colorado, Air Force, Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Nebraska, La Tech, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Illinois, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Memphis, Georgia Tech, UCF, Florida State, South Carolina, North Carolina, Duke, West Virginia, Syracuse, and Army.
Im calling it, they are going to just mirror the side with the FOC to the student section side.
Are they getting ready to join the Big12?
