Food stamps used for buying soda...and we pay for it

So no birthday cake, f the poor and their poor children

I disagree. SNAP should be for food with incentives for healthier options. Period.

That would be $9 billion of taxpayer money. Maybe the government should create a GoFundMe for SNAP soda and people can donate as they wish? But let’s be honest, none of you would donate to such a thing

This is why it is so asinine that this is even going on.

Umm this refutes nothing I have said.

Umm I donate with my taxes. Duh
I don’t feel the need to police what SNAP recipients buy with their $200 a month benefit.

Crying because you want to save less than $20 a year by not letting people have a Coke or a cookie is hilarious and screams broke.

Lets do all taxes that way. How much are you donating to the military each year once they set up the GoFundMe

I just find it amusing that those that went after Michelle O for trying some of these things now are lecturing the rest of the country on what they can and can’t eat or consume. They said she was advocating a nanny state.

Yes, sugary drinks are bad, but what happened when cities like New York tried to do something about it? Same thing. Nanny state, nanny state, na na na.

But now? Poor people, diabetus!

You will eat and drink what we tell you, because dear leader says so.

Of course I wouldn’t, because it’s a very silly hypothetical.

Are we now virtue signaling hypotheticals?

Sorry, was responding to @AgustusMcCoog, not you Chris.

Ah, so you think people on SNAP deserve trash food and sodas while people who bust their ass and live paycheck to paycheck and can’t afford to buy such trash food are just a bunch of broke asses? I bet you wouldn’t call those people broke to their face.

Brother
I’m calling YOU, specifically, broke. If you’re one of those living paycheck to paycheck and can’t afford a cookie then it sounds like you need to sign yourself up for some SNAP then, my guy. :upside_down_face:

I’d be fine with the government letting us decide where are own taxes go. I sure as hell wouldn’t want it to go to buying people junk food. You want that crap then have someone you know buy it for you.

Many fruit juices and fruit drinks are considered just as detrimental to health as sugary sodas, as they often contain similar amounts of sugar and calories, leading to increased risks of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. While 100% fruit juice provides vitamins, it lacks the fiber of whole fruit, causing rapid blood sugar spikes similar to soda.

Ohh no, turns out we consume unhealthy products all the time and its not limited to soda and candy
How big is your list going to be?

This is about $9 billion dollars and not just $20 out of my pocket. You think you’d be fine with where all your $20s are being spent?

When your tax bill is actually $9 billion then let’s have a talk. But at the moment you’re crying about something that costs you about $500 a year and wanting to reduce it by about $20. I will personally spot you 20 bucks if you really need it that bad.

There isn’t a list because I don’t buy that crap. Texas now has limits on the amount of sugar items can have in them to be eligible for SNAP and that’s how it should be. You want to live an unhealthy lifestyle then do it on your own dime.

Crazy you think sodas is the best way to spend $9 billion in taxpayer money. Ask the average taxpayer and they’d disagree with you.

Banning a limited list of things doesn’t mean they’re living a healthy lifestyle or that you’re actually prohibiting them from an unhealthy one. lol it’s just so unserious.

Damn now they’ll have to buy straight up sugar and mix it in their Kool-aid. At least Texas made it harder and you’ll sleep better
