I’m not worried about 0.13% of total annual government spending.
Could any of those issues use oh, I don’t know, maybe $9 billion?
Not birthday cake just ice cream for SNAP now
As of early 2026, new state-level SNAP restrictions (not federal) will likely not stop you from buying standard ice cream, but could restrict ice cream cakes or heavily sugary items in certain states. Over 18 states are restricting sugary drinks and candy, but ice cream is typically still allowed as a dairy product, while “prepared desserts” may be banned.
That’ll teach them
Cut all that crap out and use the savings towards things that actually matter. This isn’t that hard to understand.
Oversea preemptive wars?
No. I’m not concerned about 0.03% of US GDP. Quite literally most anything else is more important. I’m sorry big numbers scare you.
I see we’ve reached the part of the discussion where you change the topic because you realize how crappy your stance is on the subject matter.
The fact that you see $9 billion of taxpayer money as chump change is fascinating. You belong in Washington.
Not at all. You asked where that magical 9 billion you’re so obsessed with could go.
That would last a couple days. No clear objective, but no fat poors either.
Would you agree that there’s better use for that money?
3 cents out of a 100 dollar bill is the very definition of chump change.
Went right over your head, and you asked the question
It didn’t go over my head. You interject the same individual into every discussion regardless of the topic because you’re obsessed with dude. Try some fresh material.
$9b ain’t chump change no matter how much you continue to break it down.
The School I teach at actually has a ban on sodas. I drank so many cokes in school. I remember my buddy Shawn showed up with a 6 pack of Jolt and drink them all by recess. The 80s ruled
Putting it in perspective is the rational and sober approach that undergirds critical thinking about any topic. It’s either that or being a reactionary crybaby.
If you’re broke and need $20 then just say so, man. I’m sure ppl would help you out if you ask.
Sorry bro but acting like $9b is couch change and people deserve to live unhealthy lives on the taxpayer dime isn’t rational thinking.
And it isn’t “crying” just because someone disagrees with you. Not sure why people having a differing opinion always gets you so pissy.
i cannot believe it but i am agreeing with olutrain, shows people with different perspectives can agree when it is allowing freedom of choice for the people that qualify for benefits. although, i would take it farther, those qualifiers should be able to buy anything in a grocery store, beer, liquor, cigarettes; although i would limit them from the country then paying for liver transplants if they were snap beneficiaries with no personal insurance.
***of note, in my previous dust up over veterans day, i was also arguing freedom of choice.
I’d love to see the Stanford research report on that one!
$9 billion dollars in the total American economy and government expenditure is chump change. Being worried and pearl clutching about a couple of cents for every $100 does not make you fiscally conscious or sound. It’s concern trolling about the margins that will never actually move the needle. Crying about that is irrational and unserious. Growing up is a better option.
No one is saying this. What we’re saying is they deserve freedom to choose and not have Big Brother restrict what they choose for their families or themselves. Especially when if the goal is to have them make healthier choices there are more effective ways to do that like incentivizing through bonusing nutrient-dense food options. But that actually means being serious about supporting healthy options for people and families instead of being a lame-o grocery cart watching herb crying about someone using $20 bucks off your taxes to buy a Dr. Pepper. Getting a life is also an option.
