RIP Big George.
No more guarentees
Proud Houstonian.
RIP Big George Foreman
A heavyweight boxing icon. So many memories of his career:
A life well lived. RIP.
Back when boxing was on actual broadcast TV, I loved Ali and despised anyone he fought.
But when Foreman reappeared (reinvented?) in the late 80s or so, I found out that he was a funny and interesting guy and I became a big fan.
Very sad news.
He owned (or part-owned) a Meineke franchise up in the Atascocita area close to where he lived back in the late 90’s-2000’s when he was a Meineke pitch-man. He liked to come up there and shake hands when he was bored, I think. He seemed like a fun guy.
His home in Huffman has been for sale for a few months.
Great Houstonian. Natural causes.
I run in a circle with one of his nephews… only ever said great praise about him and that he could slay catfish… RIP George!
Saddened but what a life.
He was an ICON. How many human beings reimagined themselves? His life personifies the American Dream.
From nothing
From every obstacle
From every challenge
He learned, conquered and flourished.
In 1968 he won the Olympic gold medal and had an American flag in his hand. He was ridiculed for it. A proud American during the Vietnam war was too much for the press.
The same press made Ali the good guy and Foreman the bad guy. He never asked for it and did nothing to warrant such treatment.
He won, he lost then came the dark period. Then he found his faith again. He devoted himself to help others.
He got back into the ring. He had no choice. He was broke. Nobody gave him a chance but little by little he climbed back, he clawed his way back up to the top.
By then everybody loved him.
Everybody was pushing for him.
Against all odds a punch from heaven struck Moorer and sports history was changed forever.
Who would have thought that the Foreman grill would be successful? He, by his persona and being a good product made it a giant success.
A few years back he was on “Better late than never” NBC made two seasons.
