Fritz says that hes giving both Smith and Chriss the opportunity to take the starting job, didn't really answer why Ale hasnt gotten a chance

I would think we se Ale after our upcoming bye week that way he would have a couple of weeks to get ready, if not then he is definitely gone

When someone previously asked about Ale’s TD, CWF mentioned that it was a nice series but not to read too much into a garbage time score.

Barbay wants a spark from either Smith or Chriss. They’re the ride or die. If one gets hurt, we’re forced to hope for a spark from the other.

While what he said is true, I think it’s kind of lame for the head coach to downplay the best offensive series of the game. It was “garbage time” before he came in, and the other guy didn’t get the team moving.

Coaches develop blind spots, unfortunately. Someone needs to shake these dudes and wake them up.

It seems that CWF is locked on Smith and Chriss in what he calls open competition. How can it be open competition if only 2 are allowed to compete? Maybe Ale would win a start if he was actually given a chance. I guess we will never know.

Did he really say this? This would be diabolical. Why? Because we’ve watched 4 games of garbage time QB play. Maybe even more. And during those games during true garbage time, no points were scored. Somebody make it make sense.

It was the first game. They were almost shut out. He was very frustrated.

Something happened on that last possession before the half. 42 seconds with 3 timeouts and we take a knee. Then the tv shows Fritz frantically waving on the sideline doing something. Then you see Smith pointing and smiling in the huddle. Id like to know what the deal was.

Perhaps the “best offensive series of the season”

He probably wanted Smith to hand the ball off and run a play up the middle, to rest the defense.

for a team, that desperately needs reps on so many areas (including a 1minute drill with 3 timeouts). taking a knee and quitting in that situation may be the low point of the season.

IF you are rebuilding, as everyone says, these type of opportunities are precious- they allow you to practice what championship level offenses master.

Why in the world would you quit in that situation???

CWF completely quit on a learning opportunity.

Ball was on our 13 yard line. I get a run, draw or screen pass but definitely wasn’t going to risk a turnover with a three point margin.

why not practice clock management so when we have to do that to win a game, we have experience?

Baldwin is that kid who’ll turn his back to something negative even if he sees something bad so he can only talk all about good things and stay in good graces

That’s his magazine - nothing bad about Houston

That’s the thing it made no sense. Something was wrong.

Maybe he was screaming DON’T THROW THE BALL over and over and it made the QB laugh - kind of like when a kid sees an adult’s face get all contorted and weird when they get mad and they can’t help but laugh.

That’s what I got from it

All of y’all calling for Ale should look into how the Hank Brown experiment went this year for Auburn. We’re leading the country in turnovers, surely the backup can’t be worse than this, right? He looked good in garbage time and against the worst opponents on our schedule, might as well see what the kid’s got.

You mean UH’s surrender offense?
