From five-star recruit to fabulous freshman, Houston’s Ed Oliver making presence felt

Without a doubt, the most exciting thing about Ed Oliver coming here is that he gets the culture Tom Herman has brought and completely bought in from Day 1. He easily could have come here with an entitlement attitude, but he didn’t. For an 18 year old kid, that makes him far more special than the number of stars after his name.
Another awesome game from Oliver tonight just blowing up Cincy’s line. This quote really stuck out to me, especially since a guy like Singleton, a 2nd team all AAC selection, is now coming off the bench. Culture of winning to these guys is more important than individual accolades. Considering where we were 2 years ago to now, just incredible.
Defensive line coach Oscar Giles said Houston’s veteran defensive linemen, particularly seniors Cameron Malveaux, B.J. Singleton and sophomore Jerard Carter, made it a point to be welcoming to Oliver once he arrived.
“Those guys grabbed him and said ‘Listen, you’re part of our brotherhood,’ and the culture in our room has accepted him and he has accepted the culture,” Giles said.
